I am excited to report that I have been working with The Royal Oak Hotel - Cullen to create a proposed fantastic addition to the hotel, a pizza and seafood takeaway with delicatessen.

This will replace existing garage and outbuilding on the north gable of the property.

An application for planning permission and listed building consent was submitted recently and we would welcome your support on these live applications. (ref 26/00133/APP and 26/00132/LBC) The link to the applications on the Moray Council's website is in the comments below and you have until 6th April to comment.

These extensions will provide a locational need for the local and tourism markets.

It will showcase local produce and offer further employment.

Design is respectful of the traditional character, scale, detailing, form and design of the hotel as a listed building in the conservation area of Cullen Seatown.

I very much look forward to this proposed welcome addition to Cullen and the business investment that The Royal Oak Hotel are making and trust that you all do too.

That's 2025 complete for me and it's been a super busy year.

Thank you very much to all my clients, consultants and contractors making great team work for great projects.

My portfolio has included both domestic and commercial work.

2026 looks equally exciting and busy. I am delighted that clients are confident to seek improvements and new developments.

As previously noted I have been working with 1st Forres Scout Group to extend their existing building in Bank Lane, Forres to provide additional facilities.

The planning application is with Moray Council and the expiry date for supportive comments is Tuesday 28th October, so please submit these using the link in the comments or by email or post.

The Group will be having an open event on Saturday 1st November to view and discuss the proposals. Please see their page for details.

One of my architect friends Danielle Wilson Chartered Architect has assisted with preparing some fabulous 3D images of the extensions and I am happy to share these here.

I am happy to share this request for community support for 1st Forres Scout Group
We have submitted a planning application to extend the existing building to provide additional facilities.
They have a growing waiting list for our young people eager to join and lets help the volunteers at the group to be able to provide these opportunities.

🏘️ Moray Council re-opens Town Centre Capital Grant Scheme!

Grants of up to £50,000 are now available to support business growth and regeneration in town centres across Moray, including Elgin, Buckie, Forres, Keith, Lossiemouth, Dufftown and Aberlour.

💡 Funding can help bring vacant buildings back into use, support new businesses, or improve shopfronts and signage.

📅 Applications open from 7 July and close at 5pm on 29 August 2025.

That's me finished for another amazing year.

Thank you so much to my wonderful clients, consultants and contractors. Its been an absolute pleasure to work with you all.

You have kept me very busy with lots of exciting projects, humored me when I bring you out of the box designs but great for discussion.

Its been a year of both domestic and commercial projects from home extensions and alterations to an extension to existing nursery, a new farm shop, shopfront updates and a new refill shop.

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and relaxing festive time.

I will be back to the drawing board on Monday 6th January 2025!

Delighted to say permission has been granted.

Moving onto building warrant and getting this project on site ASAP.

🟢 APPROVED: A new shop at Edinvale farm.

🥕 For the last three years, they have run a small “honesty shop”.

🛠️ The new shop will continue to operate on a self-service basis with vending machines.

TOWN CENTRE CAPITAL GRANT SCHEME
‼️ NOW OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS ‼️

🔹What Town Centres are eligible?
Aberlour, Buckie, Dufftown, Elgin, Keith and Lossiemouth.

🔹 What funding is available?
The scheme offers grants of up to 50% of the eligible costs so the grant awarded would be up to a maximum of £50,000 or 50% of the eligible costs, whichever is the lesser amount, therefore match-funding of at least 50% will be required from the property owner or tenant.

🔹What can the funding be spent on?
The purpose of the funding is to support existing and new businesses, encourage the redevelopment and reuse of vacant properties to support town centre living and improve the attractiveness of the town centres

A lovely sight, the Macbeths shopfront upgrade and the open yellow door of The Old Market Refillery & Microbakery , opening soon.

It has been a busy week on our stretch of Tolbooth Street this week. Rapid progress being made on The Old Market Refillery & Microbakery, painters making the outside and inside of the building look a lot nicer, engineers giving our chills a little tlc, new food safety system being implemented, and a team of Butchers working massively hard to look after customers. Cracking week and thanks to all involved.
