Happy Friday! The cooler weather and forecasted rain make perfect conditions for establishing new lawns.

🗣️ CUSTOMER NOTICE

Due to recent rainfall across parts of the UK, combined with continued temperatures of over 30°C, turf may heat up more quickly than usual during storage and transport.

Warm and damp conditions can cause heat to build up within turf rolls, which may affect quality if the turf is not laid promptly.

Rolawn's ProFresh® cooling system helps slow this process and extend shelf life, however, the current high day and night temperatures mean it is especially important that turf is handled and laid as quickly as possible.

To achieve the best results, we recommend the following:

• Prepare the ground fully before the turf arrives
• Thoroughly water the soil prior to laying the turf
• Lay the turf immediately upon delivery
• Avoid leaving turf stacked for extended periods, particularly in direct sunlight or warm conditions

Please note that slight yellowing can occur in warm weather and does not necessarily affect the turf’s ability to establish into a healthy lawn when laid correctly.

Hi, my name is Katie. I thought I’d take this opportunity to show you the person behind the telephone voice 😊

I’ve been selling turf since 2007 when I was asked to join the family business, originally started by my dad, Mike, back in 1967. Not long after joining, I was swiftly shipped off to evening college to learn the books, before going on to complete a Business Management degree — graduating with First Class Honours in 2013.

That journey prepared me to take over running the business after sadly losing Mike 10 years ago today (20.05.16), followed by my mum, Jane, in August 2023.

Fortunately, I inherited Mike’s passion for the business, and today I’m proud to be taking it back to its roots — supplying quality turf, topsoil and also artificial grass to customers across the local area.

Whilst we no longer have the yard in Mytchett for collections, you can still receive the same quality service and materials — they just get delivered directly to you instead!

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me in the gym, on a cricket pitch — I’ve played for over 30 years — out and about with my husband or re-living my youth with friends.

I’m also mum to three grown-up sons working in demolition, cyber security and landscaping (the landscaper definitely has his eyes on the business one day… watch this space! 👀).

This business has always been about hard work, loyalty, and the relationships built with customers over generations.

To everyone who has supported us over the years — whether recently or for decades — thank you. Supporting a local business truly means more than you know 🤍
