🚀 Recent Project – Fibre Optic Installation in a Large Warehouse
Here’s a look at a job we completed last week:
We installed fibre optic cabling across a large warehouse to link the main cabinet to two existing satellite cabinets, each located around 160 metres away.
🔹 The cables were routed along the main roof girders using heavy-duty girder clips – keeping everything neat, secure, and out of the way
🔹 All fibre cores were fusion spliced into fibre patch panels at each cabinet for maximum performance and reliability
✅ The result:
✔ Fast, stable connectivity across the warehouse
✔ Clean and professional installation
✔ Future-ready network infrastructure
Projects like this are ideal for large commercial environments where reliable connectivity is essential.

A nice project completed for a private hospital.

They’d purchased Freeview TVs for patient rooms but didn’t have coax installed to each location. Luckily, Cat6 had been run to every TV point, so we installed a coax‑over‑Cat6 system to deliver Freeview across the building.

It’s a premium distribution setup, but it works brilliantly — stable, simple for patients to use, and avoids ripping walls apart to run coax.

Another tidy, reliable solution from WaveTech Southwest.

Before & After: Small Data Cabinet Tidy-Up

A small data cabinet needed sorting today. Because it’s in a food prep area, all devices and cabling must be fully enclosed with the door shut.

The existing structured cabling was too short and came in from different directions, making it impossible to reposition or tidy properly.

End result:

All equipment mounted neatly inside

Cables extended and re‑managed correctly

Power re‑routed to enter from the bottom via a grommet

Cabinet door now closes properly with nothing exposed

A simple tidy-up on paper, but a big improvement in safety, hygiene and reliability.

Before & After – Correcting Poor Data Cable Extensions

During a recent Starlink and WiFi installation, I came across some existing cabling that looked tidy on the outside — eight Cat cables entering two double‑gang boxes and eight leaving. Once opened, it became clear all eight cables had been extended using BT gel crimps.

While this technically works for basic telephone/data, it’s not suitable for high‑speed networks. Gel crimps introduce resistance, signal loss and crosstalk, which leads to:

Slow speeds

Drop‑outs

Unstable WiFi performance

Poor reliability over time

In this case, the cables had been extended because the comms cabinet had been moved. If a data cable ever needs extending, the correct methods are:

Use a good‑quality inline RJ45 coupler, or

Terminate both ends into a Cat5e/Cat6 faceplate and use a patch lead to the required location

Both options maintain proper twist integrity and ensure the cable performs as it should.

Before & After photos below.
A small fix like this makes a huge difference to the overall network performance.

A complete Starlink and WiFi installation finished this week in Rode.

The Starlink dish was mounted on the end gable and set into modem mode, feeding into a Ruijie Reyee RG‑EG406XS‑P PoE Gateway Router with 2.5GbE. All the equipment was fixed onto a small ply board in the loft — clean, tidy and cost‑effective without needing a full comms cabinet.

To get strong coverage through the property’s two thick internal walls, I installed three UniFi U7 dual‑band access points in the key areas. The result was perfect WiFi across all three floors, fast and reliable everywhere.

If you’re in Rode, Frome or the surrounding villages and need Starlink installed or proper whole‑home WiFi, feel free to get in touch.

This four‑level house had thick walls, an extension, and a bunch of powerline adaptors that just weren’t keeping up — slow speeds, drop‑outs, the usual story.

We installed a Ruijie WiFi 7 Pro system, originally planning to hard‑wire two access points and mesh the third. But on the day we managed to trace an old Cat6 cable, route it safely into the cellar, and fully hard‑wire the whole system.

The result:
• Full speeds across all floors
• Rock‑solid coverage in the cellar and extension
• No more powerline adaptors
• A clean, stable, cloud‑managed Ruijie setup

Always better when everything is cabled — and this one turned out spot on.

Starlink Delivery Delays – What You Need to Know

Quick heads-up for anyone waiting on a Starlink kit. Starlink are currently quoting 1–2 weeks, but we’ve had a few clients waiting much longer due to high demand and recent promotions.

If you’re stuck in limbo, here’s something that has helped some of our customers:
Log in to your Starlink account, open a support ticket and make a complaint about the long wait time. In several cases, this has pushed things along much faster.

Once your kit finally arrives, I can get you booked in and installed straight away.

Starlink & UniFi Upgrade in Batcombe This Week

Nice job completed in Batcombe this week. The client had their Starlink kit sitting on the bedroom floor, so we moved everything neatly up into the loft and installed two UniFi access points to cover both sides of the property.

The difference was instant — full, fast WiFi coverage everywhere, no dead spots, and all the equipment hidden away where it should be.

Today’s job: Discreet gate camera with no cabling

My client wanted a small, discreet camera on his gate, but there was no cable route and the house WiFi wouldn’t reach the 60m distance.

I installed a UniFi WiFi 7 external directional access point, painted it black to blend in with the drainpipes, and configured the 2.4GHz signal for maximum range.

Result: Perfect WiFi at the gate and his Ring camera now works flawlessly.

If you need long‑range WiFi, gate cameras or outbuilding connectivity, I can help.
