Project progress 🌱
The next stage was installing a temporary windbreak onto the strengthened deer fence. This sets the project up for the longer-term establishment of the shelter belt planting on the berm.
Before planting up the berm, the structural planting around the house goes in first. All larger trees and fastigiate yews have been secured using underground guys from Platipus Ground Anchors, avoiding the need for unsightly wooden stakes while ensuring stability from day one. Professionals

A new patio area takes shape using large-format Jurassic paving — one of the few imported materials used on this project. Carefully selected to enhance the rustic character of the garden, the stone sits naturally within the historic setting and complements the surrounding landscape beautifully.

A crisp winter’s day here in Edinburgh ❄️
Here’s a look at the next phase of our work at the spectacular Randolph Cliff.
In this stage, the lower walls reached their final form, revealing the structure and flow of the garden. We also began shaping the curved lower walkway, designed to guide you naturally through the steep terrain and connect the different levels of this remarkable site.

Starting with the foundations at Randolph Cliff 🌿
We began by prepping and building the lower walls, using a concrete foundation and reusing stone from the original garden to keep its historic character. The new steps form multiple levels, leading to two raised beds, with a walkway continuing below towards the Dean Bridge.
The first stage in shaping this remarkable vertical garden. ✨

A beautiful transformation at Randolph Cliff, one of Edinburgh’s most striking Georgian terraces. 🌿
After years of neglect, the garden was carefully restored using almost entirely recycled materials to preserve its historic character.
