Hi everyone. At this time of year especially, the build up mould is very common. I certainly get an increase in jobs to combat the blighter! We don't open windows because it is cold (and you may have noticed energy prices have gone up) we dry our clothes in doors and as a result the moisture in our homes goes up dramatically.
The combination of moisture build up and the lack of ventilation are the primary cause for condensation and hence mould. It is further accelerated in corners behind furniture (beds, units etc) and inside cupboards. These areas have even less ventilation than the rest of the house. All sounds horrible and can be quite distressing to experience.
THE GOOD NEWS is.... it is very easy to control!
The best form of defence is Attack!!.
Using household Bleach, (and gloves) simply apply with sponge or cloth and leave for 30 mins or so then wipe again with clean damp cloth.
Pull furniture away from walls slightly.
Check these every areas few weeks and repeat.
The sooner you attack, the quicker you stop the spread. And the spread can be quite horrid..onto clothes, curtains, carpets etc..not nice!
