It’s been a while since I’ve shared much in the way of ' before and after' garden transformation type posts - work has grown to include much more in recent years🌳
It's been a dry winter and wet spring in the West of Scotland, so here’s an update of what's been keeping me busy 🙂🌿

✔️ Horticulture classes delivered in Dumbarton, Paisley and Port Glasgow
✔️ Private workshops and consultations in Paisley, Lenzie and Calton.
✔️ Garden renovations in Hyndland
✔️ Planting schemes in Newton Mearns and Pollokshields
✔️ Garden designs for spaces in Old Kilpatrick, Dumbarton and Bearsden

More recently: Hedge planting in Govan and Helensburgh and new projects lined up in Govan, Gourock, Cranhill and Auldhouse.
I also attended the Scottish Horticultural Therapy Conference in Perthshire and continue volunteering to help care for green spaces locally in Stepps.

The industry continues to grow and evolve, and I’m happy to be evolving with it 🌍

If you've attended one of my classes in the last 10 years you'll have no doubt heard me say that, given favourable weather, it's my favourite time of year to get into my own garden.
Mentally and physically it's just the perfect therapy 😊 Examining "the bones' and layout of Dear Green Space, pruning back and transplanting a little here and there where possible, and checking in on the wildlife.

Whether it be garden designs, renovations, consultations or classes, it's always a privilege to be asked to be involved 🌏🌳🌲

Will return to the drawing board in mid-January, and in the meantime looking forward to the gaps between the showers to get into my own garden🙂

The origins of the quote may be debated, but its wisdom endures: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” 🌳
So delivery day here, and with plantings of Rowan, Hazel, Birch, Alder and Acer, this space will grow into a small, beautiful woodland copse in the years to come.

The same goes for planning your green space. There’s no better time than now to dream, design, and start your wish list— whether it’s for a community allotment, a residential garden, or a shared back court. 🌱

Totally perfect Autumn day for Spring bulb planting.
Last year's potted tulips are being lovingly relegated into the wildflower area of the lawn to supplement the existing Daffodils, Bluebells, Crocus and

My fading meadow strips are almost ready for seed collection and scything.
I find that developing wildflower areas is singularly the most rewarding task.
Developing it further means also sowing some fresh seed now to grow on in plugs for adding in spring (as a backup), while adding in more bulbs this autumn

Making good use of your garden is important, but it's also important to
refrain from filling every available space.
The breathing spaces between plants and zones is just as important 🌍

This large, well-planted mature garden wraps around the house, and has a narrow connecting path at the highest point along the rear.
The brief was to make use of this unsightly and disconnected blank space along the path.
Rather than fill it with planting, it identified itself as a natural pause to stop and enjoy the view back towards the house.
A simple seating area surrounded by new planting is the perfect breathing space 🌍
