Introducing the drone footage of our Lanzarote inspired garden brought to you by CJW Media Paisley
After years of coming back from their Canary Island bolthole to a garden needing a lots of attention the client had had enough. So the brief was for very modern, as low maintenance as possible & with a 750mm stainless steel sphere as a focal point. Not a bad place to start!
It was an epic project. An 8 month design process then a 10 week build battling the elements & suppliers - at times we were not sure which was worse!
The entire garden was running the wrong way so in order to create the most even surface possible it had to be raised by nearly 200mm at the house. We had to install snorkel vents to ensure the house could still breath but to have minimal transitions throughout it was worth the extra 48 tons of type 1!
The porcelain tiles are Arrento in Grey & Silver.
The raised bed is clad in Stoneface Veneer Nero.
The composite deck is in Ebony & Antique with LEDs recessed into the border.
The spots & side lights are
The rocks are Firebird Gneiss from
The composite fencing frame was fabricated by the client with the boards and the water feature also supplied by the client.
It sits on an an island of black basalt & polished black Chinese cobbles.
The "lava" mulch is jet black
The planting was chosen to be as striking as possible, to bring some warmth from abroad and help soften the hard landscaping. A large Phormium Tenax Variegata sits in the corner flanked by Trachycarpus Wagnerian, Cordyline Australis 'Red Star', smaller varieties of Phormium & a Fatsia Japonica. In the raised bed are two Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' with a Yucca Rostrata 'Blue Swan' in the middle. In the bed at the house there are 3 Phormium Yellow Waves.
Despite their tropical appearance - all these plants are hardy down a minimum of -5° and a maximum of -15° so once established should last through many a Scottish winter!
Incredible work again by all my team.
Such high standards - our minimum standards - as always.
Thank you 🙌 👏 💪
