Last night Iain Monteith took part in event at focusing on the relationships between cinema and architecture and in particular the theme of ‘A to B’.

Iain presented his thoughts on ‘The Copa Shot’ (directed by and filmed by Larry McConkey) and discussed its importance in cinema history and architecturally in terms of moving through thresholds, creating interactions and considering projects from ‘street to seat’.

As well as presenting the scene and explaining its creation through memory, vision, artistic skill and technical ability, Iain also produced an illustration to explain the journey that takes place to form the scene.

He demonstrated the significance of illustration as a communication method to document such experiences through the work of , and his son’s own drawing of a day out for pizza!

A great night was had by all.

A special thanks to and shout out to presenters .r.isaacs and to everyone that came along.

A recent sketch of a potential development. At the early stages of project, hand drawing remains a key method of describing an idea quickly and with the freedom of not worrying about being millimetre perfect.

What a wonderful evening at the Royal Scottish Academy with Richard Murphy Architects.

An inspiring occasion in which Richard generously reflected on his architectural “family tree.” It is a great honour to be part of that lineage and of the dissemination of knowledge and skill shared with those both able and willing to partake. It was a real pleasure to catch up with our architectural “siblings” and to celebrate our collective achievements.

We are confident the evening imbued Richard Murphy Architects with the spirit needed to welcome the next generation. While Richard was kind enough to share his appreciation, we must wholeheartedly reciprocate. Thank you to Richard Murphy Architects for the opportunities, dedication, and endurance shown in service of a creative profession that remains too often underappreciated and undervalued.

Thank you, Richard. We look forward to nurturing the next generation of architects

A project with and Pete at Percy house featured on yesterday. This project involved the reimagining of a small space in the middle of a modernist estate in North London.

The bare bones of the property were great - and with a few moves it was dramatically improved to become light, airy and very bright. Changes included the removal of doors, the introduction of underfloor heating, and with space at a premium, some clever solutions to storage throughout.

We’ve linked to the film on youtube via the link in our bio so you can hear a little more about the project.

At Loader Monteith, we are incredibly fortunate to design within some of Scotland’s most remarkable landscapes. Nestled between the historic rivers, Spey and Dunlain the rolling agricultural fields north of the Cairngorm massif have become a corner of the world we hold especially dear.
