Out of the ground and finally starting to see the structure of this space take shape.

To say this stage has been logistically challenging would be an understatement.

Tight access, complex levels, restricted machinery movement, constant material coordination — every part of this build has required patience, precision, and problem solving from the team.

The groundwork phase is never the glamorous part, yet it’s the foundation that determines everything that follows. Every measurement, every level, every decision beneath the surface matters when the goal is a flawless finish above.

Now that we’re through the most demanding part of the excavation and structural prep, the vision is starting to become real.

What began as a vision on paper is now a fully realised space — delivered exactly as intended.

The paving, steps, rendered walls, seating zones, and fencing all come together as one coherent flow. The frameless glass balustrade finishes it perfectly — keeping the openness, the light, and the clean architectural lines uninterrupted.

This project has always been about more than construction. It’s been about translating design intent into something real — something lived in — where indoor and outdoor space move as one.

A lot of credit goes to the design team at Nicholson McShane Architects for the clarity and strength of the original vision. Working alongside architects who care deeply about detail makes all the difference on projects like this.

And just like that… we’re nearly there.

The paving is now complete — seamlessly tying the indoor and outdoor spaces together exactly as envisioned. The steps are set, the walls have been rendered with a clean contemporary finish, and the structure of the space is fully defined.

The fencing and seating area are almost complete, creating zones to relax, entertain, and live in — not just look at.

And the frameless glass balustrade is now installed…
clean, minimal, and uninterrupted — allowing the whole space to breathe while keeping it safe and refined.

Every line. Every level. Every transition.

Considered.

This project has been about more than just materials — it’s been about flow, connection, and creating an environment that genuinely enhances the way a family lives day to day.

We’re now in the final stages… the last details, the finishing touches.

And then we hand over something special.

The transformation has begun.

Groundworks are now underway on this bespoke outdoor living space, centred around a premium Hydropool swim spa and hot tub installation. At this stage, everything is about precision — what sits beneath ultimately defines the finish above.

The complexity of the site is already clear. Restricted access, tight logistics, and a requirement for a flawless, high-end result throughout. This is where experience, planning, and discipline come into their own.

A proud moment on site today as well — my youngest son Blake, Mini Adept, arrived for a surprise inspection 🦺 Standards were thoroughly reviewed… and approved.

As the modern living area of this wrap-around kitchen extension is now complete and the kitchen fully functional, work has shifted to the less glamorous part of the project — the single garage.

This space retains the character of the original traditional sandstone, creating a natural transition between old and new, blending the property’s heritage with its modern extension.

Garage door fitted ✅
Traditional slate roof finished ✅

Just the brick slips to be fitted, and the garage is complete.

And now… the transformation moves outdoors, with some very special help onsite.

The paving has begun, and we’ve carefully matched the external porcelain with the internal white porcelain flooring — creating a seamless continuation of surface from inside to out.

This is where spaces truly connect.
Where architecture meets lifestyle.
Where inside becomes outside.

The result is a unified environment — designed for modern living, effortless entertaining, and everyday family life.

And then…

The Mini Adepts arrived.

My middle boy, Alexander (grafter 💪) and my youngest, Blake — the cavalry has arrived. The next generation of Adepts already stepping into the world of building, learning, helping, and becoming part of the story.

This is more than construction.

Outdoor living area featuring a Hydropool swim spa and hot tub.

Not my design — but James Black | Mr Adept was appointed to build.

This was an extremely challenging site. Limited access, complex logistics, and a high-end finish required throughout. Not many would have taken this on… but I was up for the challenge.

From groundworks to final installation, this project demanded precision, problem-solving, and experience.

This is the kind of work I love.Challenging sites. Premium results. Built properly.
