Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.

Today’s job started as a leak call-out. This bathroom is only 5 years old.

From first inspection it was clear this wasn’t a minor leak that could be sealed or patched.

The visible staining was a symptom - not the cause.

Once opened up, the real issues were exposed:

New plaster not primed.

No tanking / waterproofing behind wet areas.

Tiles/profiles bonded with sealant instead of proper fixings.

Incorrect tile specification (wall tiles used on the floor).

These shortcuts allowed water to track behind the tiles, soak into the structure, and cause hidden failure.

There will always be someone cheaper.

But a bathroom isn’t judged on day one.

It’s judged years later - by what’s underneath.

As the saying goes, “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”
Good workmanship, sadly, isn’t always as certain - having customers who we've looked after for over 20 years - says something about ours!

Interesting call yesterday from a regular customer who I'd recently completed a job for.
When someone rings not long after a job, with 24 years in property improvement you accept that the occasional call-back is inevitable - but because I stand by my workmanship and work with suppliers who provide high quality goods and properly honour their warranties, it’s never something I worry about.
Turns out… they just wanted the subtitles turning off and the TV brightness sorting 😄
Popped round, fixed it, job done. When people know you’ll show up if they need you, they keep you. Another happy customer. (Disclaimer: I'm not a television repair man and did wonder if I might have to call my son, but thankfully the television was about 20 years old)

They’re 3mm acrylic shower panels custom-made to match the customer’s wallpaper.
Looks like a feature wall, but it’s built for the shower! Looks amazing and the outcome was worth the fear!
