Garden wall -
This garden wall had definitely seen netter days.
The capping loose and bricks had blown.
The customer found a "bricklayer"
On a checkatrade style site and over a 2 week period he managed to take it down and start rebuilding it (refer to pictures 3 and 4).
When I got the call and attended, I have to say it was possibly the worse attempt at a wall I have seen.
The wall was taken down for a second time, the customer chose the brick they wanted and the wall is complete.

Garden wall -
This garden wall has been built around a new extension (pictures of the extension will be put on at the end of the build) to create a large raised patio area.
Before this garden was landscaped it had no real usable area as it was slopping down to the stream.
When this is slabbed it will be a large usable space.

Damp issues -
When I first came to have a look at this property it was quite clear that water was and had been getting in for a long time.
A false wall was put in, but this was just letting the water behind and rotting away the floor.
After taking the board of the ceiling you could see where the end of the timbers had rotted away and also some of the noggins.
This was an old property with no cavity wall.
The copping stones and the poor lead work on the parapet wall had been letting in water, which then started to rot the ends of the timbers that were sat on the internal brickwork.
I ripped the floor up and took the old stud wall off the masonary wall.
Installed a new insulated floor.
A section of the internal masonary wall was tanked.
A new structual internal stud wall was installed to carry the new ceiling timbers.
This created an air gap and also kept the new timbers off/out the masonary.
Wall and ceiling plasterboarded and ready for the plasterer.
The coping stone joints have been repaired with resin and the lead has been resealed.

The Old Shop -
The old patio was in a bad way, with new slabs being patched in and slabs loose everywhere.
The steps were particularly in a poor state.
All the slabs have been replaced with new, the steps have been rebuilt and faced with the slab.
Using a bigger slab the patio looks less busy.

The customer wanted to install a log burner and reinstate the chimney.

Battledown -
This wall had quite alot of movement on the expansion joints and also a couple of the panels had cracked due to movement.
The wall was taken down, steels installed with gravel boards.
Flat blocks behind the brickwork.

Reclaimed slabbed patio -
The initial brief was that the patio needed repointing.
The patio was in a poor state, and the stone had split and worn away.
New slabs was the only viable option.
After sourcing samples the customer wanted a reclaimed slab that wouldn't look out of place.
New slabs installed with a resin jointing compound.

Shower and toilet container -
This customer wanted to future proof their house, by putting a downstairs toilet and shower.
Due to access to the garden, they didn't want to extend on the side as it would take away the access.
The back was talked about, but the view of the garden would be lost and also make the dinning room really dark.
The compromise was a container, connected to the main drain and fed off the house (water and electrics).
The front of the garage door was partially bricked up to make a single door opening.
New windows on the garage.
The container was wheeled into place and connected up.
