Why is my uPVC/Composite door hard to close and lock?
- A couple of reasons both of which will result in financial outlay if not addressed.
1) Lack of lubrication on mechanism. The metal strip screwed to the side of you door is actuated when you lift the handles up to lock your door. These require lubricating, DO NOT USE WD40!!!!!!!
GT85 available from Boyes is the perfect application.

2) Door misaligned with frame. New build houses will experience subsidence which in turn will misalign the door and frame resulting in the hooks, bolts and cams binding against the holes they are supposed to engage in. Most doors have adjustable hinges, periodic attention is required to keep your door aligned.
For older buildings, the movement will be more subtle, if your door has glass panels and obviously heavier, then.... not so subtle. Again periodic checking and adjustment of your door will save you pounds.

Good check, try locking and unlocking your door when it's in the open position, if all is well when it's in this state then it's an alignment problem.

Just attended the aftermath of yet another burglary. Take note folks, here's something the Police will never admit, Nearly all burglaries are effected via doors (PVCu, composite and wooden) which are controlled by a cylinder (Your key will resemble a Yale type key)
There are easy options which you can do yourself, which makes it much more difficult for those nice burglars, to gain entry to your home and nick al of your stuff which you have worked hard for. Fit a TS007, 3 Star cylinder and sleep better at night, readily available in the internet and easily installed. Nit many locksmiths would tell you that either🤪
