Full strip service on this Vaillant Ecotec plus 624. Although the boiler is 10-15 years old and there’s an argument for changing the boiler, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. So our customer decided to get us to give it a complete overhaul.

Another one done.
Ripped out this thermal store set up
Replaced with the Vaillant Ecotec plus combi

This has not only given our customer an absolute beauty of a boiler but also loads of useable space in the cupboard.

Big thanks to another Ross from Patterson plumbing and heating who wrestled the long flue into place allowing me to enjoy the fun bit in the boiler cupboard.

The new boiler (Ideal Isar/Icos) turned out to be an absolutely horrible boiler to work on by the way. There’s still a load of them out there just waiting to ruin someone’s day.

We were called out to this boiler for a low water pressure switch fault. But as we carried out further visual checks we found evidence of this leak……. But then even worse we found the flue service test point missing - no where to be found. This will have aloud flue gases to pour into the boiler cupboard (very dangerous) considering the boiler hadn’t been checked/serviced in years. We’re happy we caught this and along with the original repair we’ve now replaced the plastic flue collector, all seals and missing test point cover.

The boiler is now not only working but SAFE for our new customer.
