Nearing middle age and with my health not as great as it was, I have decided to go on a bit of a different venture and work completely for myself. I am a jack of many trades, having worked in steel fixing, concrete pouring, fence erecting & maintenance, small tree felling.
Upon signing up to some online builder sites and registering my details, I was absolutely shocked at some of the prices that customers were paying and just didnt agree with the entire concept. Where are the days where the tradesman addresses you with a "Hello sir" when the customer opens the door?
Yes I do believe you get what you pay for, but work doesnt have to be all about maximum money for as little as possible, which is unfortunately what many seem to try and do now.
I will soon be looking to undertake work, no projects too big as health won't allow it, however some of the services I will be offering is patio/driveway weedkilling, emergency fence repair, fence protective coating and (only small) fence building, anti burglar/cat spike installation, other bits and bobs soon to be listed. There's also some products such as security spotlights etc, I'm currently in discussions with the store and may need a customer or two to review such items for free.
Still need to set up a main catchment area and accommodate around some existing customers. Will be commencing this soon.

All timber (and most nails/screws) is sourced from Sparks and Co Gravesend, a store I have been going to for over a decade. Never had any major issues with their timber products. All other products, such as fixings, weedkillers all also come from a number of selected local stores. As mentioned above there is discussions with a store regarding certain products such as solar spotlights, hanging basket brackets etc being able to be supplied and installed at very good rates, which may be beneficial for those a little less able bodied.
Nobody will ever have a "fast one" pulled by me, and you can guarantee what I'd to call old fashioned service.
