Safety First: Evacuate Immediately:
If you smell gas or suspect a leak, leave the building immediately and move to a safe location outside.
Ventilate the Area:
Open all windows and doors to allow fresh air in and the gas to escape.
Turn off the Gas Supply (If Safe to Do So):
Locate the gas emergency control valve (also called the gas emergency shut-off valve) at the meter and turn it off.
Do not: attempt to turn off the gas if the meter is located in a basement or cellar.
Extinguish All Flames and Avoid Sparks:
Put out any naked flames, such as candles or ci******es.
Do not smoke, light matches, or use cigarette lighters.
Avoid using electrical switches or appliances, as they can create sparks.
