Over in Hackney recently doing a landlord gas safety inspection. Checked the boiler and gas meter — both passed, certificate emailed over to the landlord straight after.

These annual checks are a legal requirement for landlords, and rightly so. Proper gas analysis equipment, thorough testing, and peace of mind that everything's safe for the tenants.

Over in Lambeth today doing a power flush and acid clean on a plate heat exchanger. Customer's hot water had been disappointing and the heating was taking ages to warm up properly.

Flushed the whole system to clear out years of sludge and magnetite, then stripped down and descaled the heat exchanger to get the hot water flowing properly again. Re-dosed with inhibitor and tested everything — now it's running like new.

Out in Northfleet this morning sorting a Powermax boiler with no hot water. Re-pressurised the system, set the timer correctly, and programmed the schedules. Checked the overheat thermostat and got everything restarted. Hot water's flowing again now.

Amazing how often it's the straightforward fixes that make the biggest difference to someone's day. Nobody wants to be without hot water at this time of year. If your boiler's giving you trouble anywhere in North Kent, get in touch and I'll see what I can do.

Out on a job in North Kent recently, replacing a failed cold water combination valve on a MegaFlo cylinder. The old one was leaking and past saving, so I fitted a new Heatrae Sadia Multibloc control valve to get everything back up and running properly.

Isolated the supply, swapped the assembly over, refilled the system and tested thoroughly for leaks and pressure. All good now and working exactly as it should.

Photo shows the new valve fitted. These unvented cylinders are brilliant when maintained right, but when parts fail you need to sort them quickly before things get worse. If your cylinder's playing up, drop me a message or book in at thamesboilers.co.uk.

Out on a job recently sorting out a Glow-worm boiler that wasn't playing ball. Power flushed the whole central heating system to shift years of sludge and magnetite build-up, then acid cleaned the plate heat exchanger to get the hot water back up to scratch.

The system was proper clogged — circulation was terrible and the hot water was barely lukewarm. After a thorough flush, rinse, and refill with fresh inhibitor, everything's running beautifully again.

Sometimes the old systems just need a good clean out to bring them back to life. If your heating's taking ages to warm up or your hot water's disappointing, give me a shout.

Boiler service in Northfleet this afternoon after the customer had overheating issues on hot water. The plate heat exchanger was blocked up, so I cleared it out and gave the boiler a full service while I was there.
