Starting this week with fertilisers and w**d and feeds! Let me know if you’d like your lawn to get a head start.
As soil temperatures begin to rise, lawns across the country are waking up and putting on fresh growth. It’s an exciting time—but also a crucial one for giving your lawn the right support.
Healthy growth doesn’t happen without proper nutrition. New roots, leaves and cells all depend on a steady supply of the right nutrients, so now is the time to make sure your lawn is well fed.
🌿 Apply a spring/summer lawn feed, always following the manufacturer’s recommendations carefully.
🌿 As a general guide, choose a feed rich in Nitrogen (N), supported by Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K)—shown as the NPK ratio on the packaging. A ratio around 20:4:10 is a good starting point, although this can vary between products. If you’re unsure, a UKLCA member can advise on what’s best for your lawn and soil type.
🌿 Use a properly calibrated spreader for even application. Avoid spreading granular feed by hand, as this can lead to patchy results, including scorching or uneven colour.
🌿 Consider supplementing with a foliar feed to give your lawn an extra boost of essential minerals, helping to improve colour and strengthen root development.
🌿 Check how often your chosen product should be applied—and set a reminder so you don’t miss the next treatment.
If you’re unsure which feed to use or how to apply it, it’s always worth asking for advice. Mistakes can be costly and, in some cases, damaging to your lawn.
