Your lock could look fine and appear to be "doing their job".

When we assess locks, the problems are rarely dramatic. They’re usually small details.

A protruding barrel. An incorrect mechanism. A lock that technically works, but doesn’t meet today’s standards.
These are exactly the points we highlighted in our recent video.

The reassuring part is that these issues are often quick to resolve.
In most cases, upgrading a barrel or internal component is enough to significantly improve protection.

And these are all things we assess during our survey of your premises during the enquiry stage.

A fully integrated security system begins long before installation.

Our surveyor maps how people move through a building, assess likely entry points and identify risk areas that often go unnoticed.

We look at how CCTV coverage supports alarm detection, how access control influences traffic flow, and where real-world vulnerabilities are most likely to appear.

This process creates a design that removes guesswork and ensures every component works in together to give you the best and most secure outcome.

When your CCTV, alarms, and access control are delivered by separate suppliers, gaps appear long before anyone notices them.

Each system is designed to work well on its own, but they often fail to communicate with each other in a way that creates reliable security for your home or business.

By using one certified provider, every entry point, access point and detection zone is designed to work as a unified whole.
That means faster response times, clearer reporting, and a security setup built around how your property actually operates.

The result is fewer blind spots & weak points as well as a more predictable level of protection.

This job began as a routine repair after a contractor damaged a cable at a commercial premises. It ended with a discovery that protected the client from far greater risk.

During the site visit, the client mentioned they had swapped and upgraded parts of their CCTV system themselves, including the video storage hardware. On the surface, everything appeared to function normally. In reality, the recorder had silently failed.

Not a single frame had been recorded since the install.

From an insurance perspective, that gap is significant. Many commercial policies require working CCTV as part of the conditions of cover, including a certain amount of archive footage.

Recording failures can jeopardise claims, delay investigations, or render evidence inadmissible.

An insurer will ask two questions after an incident:
Was CCTV installed?
Was it working as required?

If the answer to the second question is “no”, the outcome may not fall in the business’s favour.

Routine checks validate that the system is doing what the policy expects. A simple fault can quietly undermine the very protection the client believes they have.

When we install a smart lock system, the hardware is only part of the experience.
What matters most is ensuring every client feels confident and supported from the moment the system is fitted to the moment they begin using it day-to-day.

A recent customer shared how much they valued not only the installation itself, but the time we spent walking them through how the system works, step by step.

For us, that’s standard practice.

A secure solution should never feel complicated or unfamiliar, which is why we stay on site until the client feels comfortable managing their new system on their own, as well as helping employees in a business or family members at home have the access and training they need

The challenge with CCTV isn’t just securing the premises, it’s staying aware of what’s happening when you’re not physically on site.

Remote CCTV viewing solves this.

Being able to check your cameras from your phone means you can monitor deliveries, staff activity, and stay alert to unexpected issues in real time, wherever you are.

If your current system doesn’t support mobile access, Apex Protects can update it.
In many cases, we can modernise your recorder or software while keeping your existing cameras.

Giving you secure, reliable remote viewing without needing a complete replacement.

This simple oversight nearly cost a Car Sales Business their entire forecourt.....

We were recently asked to consult for a car sales company that had been warned by their insurer that their alarm system did not meet the required criteria.
The manager was concerned, as they believed every access point was correctly protected with the right grade of alarm.

On the surface, everything appeared compliant.
A deeper survey told a different story.

While the existing alarms and trip points only needed minor updates, there was a major vulnerability the previous installer had never considered.

Their key cupboard holding access to every vehicle on the forecourt was located inside the manager’s office.

That office, unlike the main showroom, had no alarm coverage at all.

When we demonstrated how a professional burglar would enter the building, the issue became clear.

A thief could have accessed the roof, dropped into the unprotected office, taken the keys, and driven away multiple vehicles without triggering a single alarm.

We provided a plan to bring their system up to insurance standards and, more importantly, secured a part of the building they didn’t realise was at risk.

The result was compliance, clarity, and peace of mind they hadn’t known they needed.

UK insurers don’t simply want you to have a CCTV or alarm system.

They expect it to meet specific standards.

Although requirements vary by provider, most follow similar principles: reliability, coverage, and verified installation & maintenance.

For CCTV, insurers look for clear image quality, properly positioned cameras, and reliable recording that retains footage for a required number of days. If footage is missing, unusable, or doesn't cover vulnerable access points, the insurer may say the system wasn’t fit for purpose.

For alarm systems, insurers often specify a graded alarm, active monitoring, and proof of recent servicing.
An alarm that falsely triggers, fails to set, or hasn’t been installed by an accredited professional, can all raise questions during a claim, which could lead to loss of payout.

Compliance is not about meeting a simple checklist, it’s about demonstrating that your security system is functional, appropriate for your property, and professionally maintained.

So what happens when an employee leaves under certain circumstances or a key goes missing and panic sets in? Do we need to change every lock?

That’s exactly why we install a rekeyable lock system for some of our clients.

If a key’s lost or an employee leaves, they can switch to a new key configuration instantly.

No call-out
No replacement barrels
Just quick security restoration.

It’s a brilliant way to save time, cut costs, and stay compliant with insurance requirements.

And because we handle the setup and show the team how to use it, you’re in full control going forward.

One simple upgrade to your existing doors, which gives you three chances to re-secure the premises before you need to call us out for another set of replacements.
