Sanctuary….I’m obsessed with is room. From first discussions with my client about creating a small, opulent sanctuary for them to retreat to for a long soak at the end of a day to the finished product, this has been my focus for the last month (maybe more).

From design, through sourcing, rip out, installation, project management of other trades and to final decoration. This has been the full works.

We took out the old, rearranged the layout, added lighting (functional and ambient), used natural materials to enhance the space, created bespoke items to make the space unique, and a splash of fun thrown in with the wallpaper (sealed for protection).

Aided and abetted by Ethan .w_plumbing_services , Daniel and Tom .

Find out what it took to get this finished look…..👇👇

✅ Wallpaper stripping (5 layers)
✅ Numerous nails, screws and raw plugs removed and holes filled and
✅ Cracks scraped out, filled, taped and walls skimmed
✅ Blown plaster removed back to original brick work (including a hidden layer of battens, wallpaper and lime plaster)
✅ Insulated plaster board installation and skim on exterior wall (courtesy of )
✅200 years of paint removed from rotten woodwork, holes filled, sanded filled and sanded again
✅Ceiling repair from an old water leak on lathe and plaster.
✅ Wardrobe make over by spraying the doors.
✅ Painted (radiator matched to wall) in , sprayed woodwork

A truly unique home and a one of kind feature wall.

It has been a real pleasure to work with a lovely family to update a 200 year old flint cottage, ready for the next generation to enjoy its warmth and beauty.

In this 1960’s bedroom extension we uncovered the original flint walls and made them a unique feature. The walls add texture and character found elsewhere in the property. The walls trim and ceiling enhance the stone work, and soften the feel of the room.

Hidden behind layers of tongue and groove, hardboard, wallpaper and paint, for the last 60 years, they were beautifully and skilfully plaster framed by the brilliant Daniel and Chris .

Adding warmth, softness and proportions to a sitting room.

My client chose a gorgeous soft and delicate pink to bring warmth to her previously grey scheme.

All the walls were lightly skimmed to smooth over the 100 years of imperfections without losing their character. Cracks were taped and skimmed to give strength and remove hair line cracking.

All the woodwork was sanded back, and the details in the architraving revealed after stripping numerous layers of paint.

The biggest transformation was the fireplace. By adding extra height to the surround and deepening the mantel, as well as filling the previous grooves, the Victorian fireplace has been given better scale and prominence.

I’ll be back to spray the new radiators to match the walls very soon.

The client is enjoying the refreshed space, which has subsequently had new carpets and sofas. I think it will be perfect for a glass of wine round the roaring fire.

GLOSS UP….loved the colour but the paint had faded in the south facing position. Stripped back, sanded, primed, filled, sanded, filled, sanded, primed, sanded, primed, sanded, top coat, sanded, top coat (by hand)….sander put into retirement.

Painted using colour matched by .uk, top coat

Giant TV Cabinet…Finishing the week off with the build and install of a bespoke bifold tv cabinet for a local infants school…protecting it from little fingers and bean bags in PE. Function was the priority but managed to slip in a couple of shelves for speakers and rounded edges and corners protect heads. Painted to blend in, I’m sure the next time I’ll see thus, it’ll be covered with finger paintings or collages.
