Maintaining a large private estate garden is never just about upkeep — it’s about stewardship, continuity, and respecting the legacy of the landscape.
We’re proud to provide year-round grounds and garden maintenance for a substantial countryside estate near Godalming. Spanning several hectares, this is not only a complex and evolving landscape, but one with real historical significance.
The garden was originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll, one of the most influential figures in British garden design. While the estate has naturally evolved over the decades, elements of her vision still resonate today — particularly in the thoughtful use of colour, planting combinations, and the subtle transitions between spaces.
Our role is to manage and maintain the estate with a high level of horticultural precision, ensuring that:• Lawns are kept in optimal condition through structured seasonal care• Borders and planting schemes are maintained with sensitivity to their original character• Trees, hedges, and structural elements are carefully managed• The garden continues to feel cohesive, balanced, and true to its heritage
Working on a site like this requires more than routine maintenance — it demands an understanding of landscape history, plant behaviour, and long-term garden development.
Every visit is part of preserving something bigger than a garden.
