Showing my vulnerable side here….
Let’s be real it’s a Saturday, sun is shining but today sales were non existent in store. Like zero. Zilch.

Days like this often leave me feeling deflated, anxious and worrying over everything such as what I am doing wrong, stressing that my boutique is sh*te, and that it’s not what people want. I’m a worrier.

But this day doesn’t define my business and certainly doesn’t mean it isn’t doing well. I love my business and I’m so excited to keep going. However, I’m genuinely giving you insight into being an independent brand as it isn’t all glitz and glamour. Some days are better than others, and sometimes it can be really difficult. Being honest about the struggles we can face as small business owners is really important though.

All that hard graft some days comes with very little reward. But I love my little boutique and I love speaking to people from all walks of life, so thank you to everyone who allows me to keep going and made me dream a reality x

Being an independent business owner is fooking tough... and yes, I said exactly that in a recent post! But I’m just being honest because it isn’t rosey all the time.

Today, alongside visual merchandising the boutique window, I've also been doing the job of about 25 different people 😂. From buyer, marketer, content creator, accountant, customer service, cleaner, stock manager, and everything in between.

But what makes a business work isn't whether you're a small business or a big one. There are a few key things that matter most
💫 Commitment showing up even on the days you feel on your knees and you’ve nothing to give.
💫Courage that despite everything I’ve endured I’ve got this no matter what.
💫 Capability knowing exactly that I will achieve anything I set out to do.
💫 Confidence, this is one I really struggle with sometimes believing in myself and shut out the noise
And above all...
💫Consistency keep in your own lane, like never compare yourself to what others are doing around you be genuine always.

In my opinion the businesses that succeed aren't always the biggest. They're the ones that keep showing up, learning, adapting, and moving forward no matter what the day brings. Some days feel effortless. Other days feel like you're carrying the whole business on your shoulders. But every small step counts.

To all my fellow independent business owners out there, you're all doing an amazing job.

Pattern makes me happy 😍

I truly believe our interiors should be an extension of our personality. I see so many homes filled with grey and beige, and while there’s absolutely a place for neutrals, I think there’s so much more a home can give.

Colour, pattern, texture, character, these are the things that make a space feel alive. A home should breathe, tell a story, and reflect the people who live in it.

Don’t be afraid to embrace colour and pattern and create a space that brings you joy. 🌸🎨

I’ve always been a creative soul. As a child, I struggled to focus in Maths and English, and I was often told I wasn’t concentrating. But put me in an Art class and everything changed. I could sit for hours drawing, painting, and creating, completely immersed in my own little world.

Looking back, I realise creativity was never something I did, it was who I was.

My mind has always been filled with colour, ideas, textures, inspiration from nature, and a desire to create something meaningful. Creativity has been my way of connecting, expressing, and making sense of the world around me.

Three years ago, I made the difficult decision to leave my role as an NHS Therapist of 17 years service. It was a huge leap of faith and, at times, a scary one. But it was also one of the best decisions I've ever made. Choosing to trust myself, follow my heart, and step into the unknown opened doors I never imagined possible.

Today, I feel incredibly grateful for the journey so far, and I'm genuinely excited to see what the universe has in store for me next.

If there's a dream sitting quietly in your heart, waiting for the "right time" this is your reminder that there may never be a perfect moment. Trust yourself. Take the chance.

Isn’t being a business owner fooking tough??!! 😂

Don’t get me wrong, I never expected an easy ride, but wow... some days really do test you.

I’m not sure what it’s like when you have a team around you. I imagine there’s more opportunity to offload, bounce ideas around, solve problems quicker, and deal with challenges in a more systematic way.
Being a business owner takes everything. I’ve had days where I’ve laughed, cried, felt like I was on my knees, and then been jumping for joy...and that’s all happened in the space of one day! 🤣

As a sole trader, building my business from the ground up is something I’m incredibly proud of. There’s no rule book for handling every situation that comes your way, and sometimes those situations can leave you feeling deflated or questioning yourself. One thing I’ve learned is that, as a woman in business, I’m far stronger and more resilient than I often give myself credit for.

I wanted to give everyone a little heads-up that next week, particularly on Friday, the shop will be closing early as I have some hospital tests to attend. I apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and support, as always.

🌟Happy 3rd Birthday to Love All Things Quirky Boutique 🌟

What can I say…it’s been a journey. Lots of tears, belly laughs, and plenty of difficult challenges along the way but here I am, still standing 🙌

Owning a small business takes grit, determination, creativity, and a whole lot of belief in what you’re building. Most days I question myself constantly “Am I doing this right? Should I be doing that differently?” 😂 I must drive my husband mad!

As many of you know, over the last 3 years my battery hasn’t always been fully charged, especially health-wise, but somehow I’ve still reached this milestone and that makes me unbelievably proud 🙌

The brand is evolving, and I’ve never wanted to be like anyone else or compete with others. I truly believe if you have a dream, you should go for it 🌸 Although, if I’m honest, business isn’t always as rosey as it may look from the outside.

Building a brand is a huge financial and emotional risk, but every single day I count my blessings and pinch myself that this is MY business. I’m incredibly lucky to have the most amazing support from family Jonathan and livvy ❤️, friends, Ryan and Karen (thanks Karen) for helping create the floral door today as reaching high above is near impossible for me 🌸❤️ and especially my lovely customers who continue to return time after time.

I will be forever grateful for every single one of you 💖

Art is my therapy the last few months I’ve been drawing, sketching, painting every day. Some are for my new collection, other pieces are just practising. When it’s busy outside and there’s too much noise…art really helps to ground me and ignore the external chaos.
