A recently completed lounge-diner transformation in this beautiful late-1800s property, blending period character with a modern interior.

With the property soon heading to market, the homeowner wanted to brighten the space and create a lighter, more neutral feel throughout.

The ceilings, previously painted in School House White by Farrow & Ball, were refreshed in Brilliant White to maximise light and enhance the sense of space.

The previous wall and woodwork colour, Park Life by COAT, was replaced with Ammonite by Farrow & Ball.

Named after the treasured fossils found along the Dorset coast, Ammonite is a timeless shade that sits perfectly between warm and cool. Its subtle grey undertones create a calm, understated backdrop that complements both traditional and contemporary interiors.

The result is a bright, elegant space that showcases the property’s original character while embracing a fresh modern aesthetic.

Kitchen Pantry

A kitchen pantry I completed a few days ago. I really enjoyed working on this project, and I love the colour combination.

The owner of the property created a fantastic use of space at the end of their kitchen, designing a traditional-style pantry with plenty of storage and work space.

The top half of the pantry is painted in Farrow & Ball – School House White No. 291, while the lower cabinets are finished in COAT – Park Life. The two colours complement each other beautifully and create a timeless look.

The worktops are still to be fitted at a later date. In the last three photos, I’ve included AI visualisations showing both an oak worktop and a white granite worktop to give an idea of how the finished pantry could look. I have to say, the oak worktop looks absolutely stunning and really enhances the traditional feel of the space.

What do you prefer – oak or white granite?

A simple refresh on this cosy modern lounge. I’ve painted this room a few times now — the last being in November 2024 after the media wall and new fire were installed.

The same colour scheme has been kept throughout, with Dulux Diamond Matt on the walls and ceilings. All woodwork was thoroughly rubbed down to dull the previous oil-based satinwood finish.

This time, I used Benjamin Moore Stix primer first to ensure proper adhesion for the new water-based top coat, followed by Benjamin Moore Scuff-X for a durable satin finish. The media wall was also updated with a darker shade chosen from a Dulux colour fan to add a bit more depth and contrast to the space.

Garden arch and shed ☀️

That time of year again when the exterior jobs are able to be completed. This garden arch had definitely taken a beating from the weather, so it was time for some much-needed TLC — along with fresh protection for the shed too.

Both were first sprayed with Sikkens WP 198 stain-blocking primer, followed by a top coat of Sikkens WF 3311 semi-matt for a durable finish and long-lasting protection against the elements.

This hall, stairs and landing — along with the dining area and downstairs WC — was a project I first painted back in 2021. This time around, we transitioned from an oil-based satinwood finish to a durable water-based satin using Benjamin Moore Scuff-X.

Keeping the same colour throughout the ceilings and walls, I used Dulux Diamond Matt — a tough, durable finish that stands up brilliantly to everyday traffic, making it perfect for busy areas such as hallways and kitchens.

The biggest transformation on this project was definitely the staircase, going from white to black, creating a real standout feature in my opinion. It looks absolutely ace! The staircase was also finished in Scuff-X Satin for a smooth, hard-wearing finish.

Downstairs, I painted the dining area and WC using the same paint system throughout. In the dining area, we updated the feature wall colour either side of the acoustic panelling to a slightly darker grey, which works much better with the panelling and ties the whole space together nicely.

A modern, clean-looking colour scheme from top to bottom on this one 👌🏻

Bar 24 🍸

A recently completed outdoor garden bar for my friends Danny and Suzy — and without a doubt one of my favourite projects I’ve worked on in a long time.

Everything on this job was sprayed, inside and out. The interior walls were finished in a lighter grey using Tikkurila Everal Aqua Matt 10, a durable enamel wood paint, while the bar itself was completed in a darker grey, also using Everal Aqua Matt 10 for a smooth, hard-wearing finish.

For the exterior, I used Sikkens Rubbol WF 3311 semi-matt top coat, providing a durable, flexible protective coating built to withstand our British weather. 🌦️ 🍹

Recently completed kitchen with a clean, modern contemporary finish.

For the ceilings and walls, I used Dulux Diamond Matt – once fully cured, it’s extremely durable and ideal for a kitchen environment where regular cleaning is a must.

The woodwork was previously oil-based satinwood, so it was fully rubbed down before transitioning to a water-based system. This not only keeps the finish looking crisp white over time but also provides a tough, long-lasting result.

Finished with Benjamin Moore Scuff-X Satin for a durable, scuff-resistant finish that can handle everyday wear and tear.

Now just for the ceiling spotlights to be adjusted and the radiator to go back on 🔧

Preparation and product choice make all the difference 👌

Two more rooms completed last week at the same property after finishing two rooms there a couple of weeks ago. This time it was a home office and a bedroom, both with a clean modern look.

The ceilings and walls were finished in Dulux Diamond Matt for a durable, smooth finish, while all the woodwork was coated in Benjamin Moore Scuff-X Satin to give that tough, long-lasting protection that stands up to everyday use.

Both rooms feature grey tones on the walls — coded colours selected from a Dulux colour fan — which work perfectly with the modern feel of the room.

Two bedrooms completed last week ✔️

Both rooms had new architraves and skirting boards installed, along with acoustic panelling and brand new wardrobes to finish the spaces off.

The colours used in these rooms were chosen from a Dulux colour fan, so they are referenced by code rather than name.

All walls and ceilings were finished in Dulux Diamond Matt for a tough, durable finish, while the woodwork was painted using Benjamin Moore Scuff-X Satin for a hard-wearing, smooth look.

The main colour is a lighter grey which keeps the rooms looking fresh and clean, while the wardrobe wall features a darker grey that ties in nicely with the wardrobe colour.

I’ll be back at this property in a couple of weeks to complete two more bedrooms. 🎨
