Other picture is a compost heap that should of being turned as has layers of green grass, composted material, uncomposted like layers.

Nice planting job, worked with customer on their preferences.
With two Betula species.
Betula utilis Edingburgh
Betula utlis 'Wakehurst Place Chocolate '.
These will provide height, structure.
Along with three Cherry species 'Kiku_shidare-zakura.
Ideal for small /medium gardens, small weeping tree with arching branches.
Both medium sized tree's ideal for most gardens.
Lots of perennials for colour along with shrubs for the backbone.
Chosen some groundcover plant species Heuchera species.
And a few Bergenias.
With edging of Lavandula 'Hidcote'.
In the shade area chosen Dryopteris felix mas and Polystichum var.
Coprosma 'Pacific night' and Physocarpos provide colour and structure.
Along with Digitalis sp. (foxgloves)
Some lovely species ideal for shade.
In semi-shade added some Penstemon 'Apple Blossom.
