Early summer pots coming on well, keeping watering but not in direct sunlight or you’ll burn the foliage 🍃 🌸

Keep watering 💦 those pots everyone, even a few watering cans on those lawns will help!!

The temperature is warming up and this weekend could be a scorcher🌡☀

Chief Horticulturist Guy Barter has some top tips and tricks on how to be the best gardener you can be in the warmer weather:

- Delay sowing and planting until cooler weather returns to save time, water and disappointment

- Containers are vulnerable in the heat but they can be moved to shadier areas to save watering, especially hanging baskets which are notoriously thirsty

- Lawns might brown a little but will come back once the rains return. In the meantime avoid close mowing leaving the grass a little longer

- Harvest strawberries, salads and other new vegetables in the cool morning for maximum quality and keeping period

- Water in the evening to limit evaporation compared to earlier in the day

Oh yes and don’t forget wildlife – supply birds with clean water and leave a muddy path near the pond or somewhere convenient to help bees and other insects build nests 🐝

Well... it’s new, red, with a great engine.... but unfortunately not a Ferrari (maybe one day!🤣).
Tip for first mows of the season; keep the cut high or you’ll regret it later!
