The greenest building already exists! The same should be said about materials. Recycled and second life materials not only reduce waste but add very little in embodied carbon to the new application apart from the refinishing or refabrication processes.

We always carefully consider the material choices in our projects promoting reuse wherever possible; be it a beautiful 1950's teak floor, a raised access floor panel, a raw concrete frame or a structural beam.

This process requires careful sampling and discussions with clients and key stakeholders, its a conversation that has to be furthered as re-use is a key element of how we adapt construction to work as part of the circular economy.

We are excited to have secured planning permission for a comprehensive refurbishment of a home in North Harpenden. The proposals include a contemporary rear extension as well as increasing the ridge height of the main roof to create brighter and expansive internal spaces. Environmental improvements are also at the forefront of the design with a large photovoltaic panel array on the roof, increased insulation, high performance windows and permiable landscaping to improve stormwater attenuation.

So pleased to have secured Listed Building Consent and Planning Approval for a change of use for the excellent West End Barns cafe.

While the scope was straight forward we worked closely with DLA Planning to set out a strong case for a creative reuse of the existing listed barns.

So pleased to get planning approval on this contemporary extension to a 1920's house in Harpenden. The projects main aim was to modernise the existing house while providing flexible living spaces for a growing family. The extension will also meet high environmental standards with a green roof and high performance glazing.
