Well this was a challenge!
1) Verbena bonariensis introduces lovely airiness, height and colour into your planting from summer into autumn. Needs a bit of frost protection over winter so don’t cut back until spring.
2) Salvia Nemorosa 'Caradonna' A brilliant doer and another pollinator favourite. Caradonna flowers for months and brings lovely shape and texture to your planting.
3) Geranium ‘Rozanne’ Will give you violet blue flowers for much of the summer. Perfect as underplanting, at the front of a border or in a container, cut back in midsummer to prolong flowering.
4) Astrantia major Its a large white pin cushion flowers tipped with green. Perfect planted in mixed planting and with grasses, adding lovely texture and form.
5) Centranthus ruber It's a fabulous perennial wildflower, bearing grey-green leaves and dense clusters of crimson, pink or white, slightly fragrant flowers from late spring to autumn. It's incredibly easy to grow and is a magnet for pollinators.
6) Iris 'Dusky Challenger'
Grows to a height of 120cm. Huge, shimmering purple flowers with blue-black beards appear on strong stems in early summer. Flowers have a strong, chocolate scent. 'Dusky Challenger' is perfect for growing in a mixed herbaceous border or gravel garden, and makes an excellent cut flower.
7) Libertia grandiflora (syn Libertia chilensis) is a striking perennial, bearing slender, upright stems of white flowers above sword-shaped foliage. Its airy habit makes it perfect for growing in a prairie-style display or a gravel garden, particularly among other airy plants.
