Hopefully this is ok to put on here.
Do you have spray on foam insulation in your loft. (Is it a problem or not).
I recently saw an ad from a couple on another site who had this foam and wanted it removing.
They advised me that at the time of purchase they were informed that it would increase the value of their property as well as give them other benefits from having it.
They also said, that they were never informed that if they ever wanted to re-mortgage or sell their property or try for a release of equity that they would not be able to because this product is in their property.
I went along and gave them a price for removal and disposal of the product. It's time consuming as it has to be done by hand to minimise damaging the felts. Also as you're working in the loft, you have to be very careful making sure not to break / fall through any ceilings. The foam was wet to touch on the back of it which was attached to the felt. Once the foam was removed from the eves, the air flow was noticed immediately.
Then it needs bagging up ready for the waste transfer station to accept it ready for re cycling further along the line.
I do have an Environmental waste licence which allows me to remove products and wastes from peoples homes and take to the transfer stations.
I have heard from the couple this morning, that they have had a visit from the surveyor that originally refused them lending. He has today been back and inspected the work and was very impressed, so hopefully now they will get what they were originally trying to achieve.
The reason for this post, is if anyone else needs this service then please contact me for a price, but more importantly to help get the word out there so other people don't get stuck. These products are still being installed, (WHY).
I have full permission from the couple I have recently done this for, to post this announcement. They have also spoken to the local MP about this as well.
