If you have the old halogen type downlights please get them checked and changed.

We found these whilst undertaking an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) before installing a new consumer unit.

9/10 time, when we inspect these old lights, we find numerous issues.

Here we have burnt cable, which would no doubt have made changing the old consumer unit very frustrating with very low insulation resistance readings, and no fire hoods installed.

Not only do modern integrated LED downlights come with fire spread protection, a verity of light colours and brightness options they also consume a lot less power, allowing them to pay for themselves over time.

One of the many things I love about my job is finding accidental time capsules.

Just working on a consumer unit change for a customer and came across this lovely picture in The New, dated December 8th 1982, under some carpet that needed to be moved.

The picture is from Conor First School and Newchurch Primary School.
