It is estimated that in Great Britain there are close to 24 million homes with a loft space. Somewhere around 1% have NO insulation at all - that is around 240,000 homes.

Around 30% (over 7,000,000) have less than 125mm of proper loft insulation.

In total (including the above figures) around 40% to 50% of homes in the UK have less than the 270mm to 300mm set out in the building regulations. That is between 9 million and 12 million homes without adequate insulation. This is before you factor in the estimated 5 million homes without proper wall insulation and 3 million homes without floor insulation where it should be used.

Although many new home builders choose to insulate up to 400mm depth now we are a long way short of insulating properly and it remains low hanging fruit to improve our energy efficiency as a country and the comfort of millions living in it.
