Let's talk about TVs! 📺
With the football World Cup starting today, I'm sure there will be plenty of people settling down in front of the television over the next few weeks.
Have you ever walked into a room and thought, "Wow, that's a massive TV!" or, on the flip side, wondered why someone has such a tiny one?
Many people seem to think the bigger the better, whereas personally I don't want the TV to be the main focal point of the room.
Not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also for your viewing experience.
Did you know there's such a thing as a TV optimum size calculator? You can now easily calculate the correct size Tv for you. Not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also for your viewing experience.
Positioning is just as important as well.
A TV that's mounted too high might look impressive, but if you're constantly tilting your head upwards to watch it, it can lead to neck strain and discomfort during those longer viewing sessions. Ideally, the centre of the screen should be close to eye level when you're seated.
These days we've actually ditched the TV altogether and use a projector straight onto a wall instead. It gives us a huge screen when we want it, but when it's switched off there's no large black box dominating the room….although instead we just have a blank wall so not sure that’s great either!
Just like with any other furniture proportions make a huge difference. Get them right and a room feels balanced. Get them wrong and something can feel "off" even if you can't quite put your finger on why.
So, where do you sit on the big TV debate? Bigger is always better, or do you prefer a more discreet option?
