Porch refresh! Porches are a funny space, easily overlooked as a chilly, practical spot for dumping shoes, scarves, keys etc. Here we’ve stepped back from it and considered what a more elegant, welcoming, timeless feel would look like. I’m really happy with the result and illustrates my approach to sourcing… start with the investment piece, in this case a handsome 18th century mahogany, marble topped console from , a panelled mirror from and a rechargeable lamp from as there’s no power in here. We kept the existing pendant as it fitted with the classic look of the space and added some bowls and boxes plundered from around the home… et voila! It will still be chilly but that’s ok, it makes entering the heart of the house that bit more lovely

A day at spent at is always so worthwhile to soak up all the latest, especially during Design Week. I fan girled at a talk about curating homes with the brilliant India Knight (get her book Home), Jojo Barr and Emma Ainscough then wandered about until my feet hurt. Loved so much here is a series of photos capturing my best bits. Actually is on Kings Road in a popup with both worth a visit too!

I was talking to a new client about the great potential for creating a wonderful, warm, interesting space in cloakrooms. They are such a wonderful room to design, because they offer the virtue of a compact, contained space, allowing us to experiment a little with more colour and pattern than the client would normally be comfortable with. We installed half height tongue and groove panels in Elephant’s Breath to add tradition and depth to the room, plus give a more finished feel to the space. The fabulous wallpaper is by .atelier and called Suzani, inspired by an antique textile, its hand-drawn feel lending such character to this downstairs loo. The curved antique gold mirror over the basin is by and pair of alabaster and brass wall lights, that give a pretty low glow to the room, are from . The double bench was previously owned by the client, but we reupholstered the seat in Rabanna and sourced a little antique side table that sits snugly to the left of the basin.

I’ve included my sketch of the room that helped the client to visualise it all as it was a bit of a leap for her to go with so much pattern! (For me this was quite restrained!)

The is brilliant and free! Packed full of interesting objects, projects and art, not to mention the building itself, whose roof takes the unique form of a saddle-shaped, double paraboloid curve, if you will! I expected to find loads of fascinating designed products but not the 💥 explosive colours of art prints which were so fun and uplifting

The only thing for it at this funny time of no plans is to make the most of empty London and get out of the house for some culture, Asian food and a total change of scene. was as magical as I imagined it to be, telling a wonderful story of the life of Sir Frederick Leighton 🧑‍🎨 via his incredible Holland Park home 🏠 and art 🖼️ - definitely worth a visit then slip along to the Design Museum where we went next for a blast of modern colour… new post on this coming soon!

Some more details of the shepherds hut project that we completed recently. It was a joy to design! It gets used as a quiet retreat, for study, for guests to sleep and for teenagers to hang out (brave!) - what a huge bonus to have a space like this in your garden

So admire the sweetest of guest bedrooms cleverly tucked beneath some beams and atop flagstone flooring by You can imagine the transformation from draughty ground floor room to English country house nest, clever Sarah using panelling, bookshelves, the generous chest of drawers and plenty of bold colour to breathe life into the space. Fabulous design!
