We don’t have a show garden like some local nurseries because the whole nursery is a show garden! Plus every plant is for sale so when you spot a little gem in one of our creative inspirations, just pick it up and put it in your trolley. Also if you feel a display could be improved, feel free to move the plants around. We really do love to have your input. Please do wander up and down our paths, a

dmiring the plant combinations and enjoy the vistas while being inspired by our special nursery complete with prairie garden, hot and cool borders, secret Victorian parlour garden and fernery but watch out for the dinosaurs! It's Sussex Day today (Tues 16th June) so let's celebrate everything that's good about our county!And also let's enjoy our gardens too!

Here at Rapkyns Nursery we encourage our customers to take time to sit amongst our beautiful home grown plants and to be inspired. There is always cold drinks available plus a peppering of quirkiness so what's not to like! So if you want somewhere peaceful and colourful to celebrate Sussex Day do drop in.

Looking for an abdolutely stunning garden to visit? Town Place, near Sheffield Park is open this afternoon (Sun 14th June) from 2pm until 5pm. And is one of the best private gardens in the south East.

Everywhere you turn there is beauty and perfection. There are roses and herbaceous borders and herbs and veg and glass houses and grasses and stunning views and sooooo much more.

Iveta will be giving demonstrations on how we take our cuttings at Rapkyns Nursery today, I will be suggesting what to grow in your garden and Twiglet & Toasty will be hoping you play ball with them!

We have so many plants for all sizes of gardens and plenty for pots too. Our Salvias are looking amazing, the hardy perennials are coming into flower and the Dahlias won't be far behind.

Every nursery has a working area, Rapkyns Nursery included but unlike most nurseries our customers are encouraged to see how we grow our plants so all areas of the nursery are open.

Customers that do take time to see what we get up to and ask questions about growing plants on a nursery all say how interesting it is and most have no idea the hard work that goes into producing plants.

It's a 7 day a week job and whilst we may not open every day, we are always doing something with the plants and I can honestly say this year has been particularly challenging with the weather.

We have grown over 40 varieties of Dahlias at Rapkyns Nursery this year and they are ready to plant now. They are huge plants in 3 litre pots and just £9.50.

We have even more varieties of Salvias including the small scented leaf varieties like Peach Melba and Trelissick in 1.5lite pots at £7.50 up to the larger growing varieties like Phyllis Fancy and Amistad in 3 litre pots at £9.50 and many in-between.

The list of our hardy perennials is just too long to mention but start at £8.50 in a 2 litre pot plus we have a great range of shrubs too.

We are a traditional nursery growing all our own plants on site and just to show our customers what we do. We are rather quirky and the nursery becomes more like a garden every week.

I have been busy making the greenhouse summer ready now all the seedlings have been potted. I like it to be a decorative and inspiring place to enjoy and maybe a hidden spot to take a break and soak in the beauty and scent of the plants. It is also a great place to shelter from the rain!
