Useful information regarding textured coated ceilings (Artex) and possible asbestos content.

We can offer full service of arranging;

• Asbestos Sample with UKAS laboratory testing.
• Asbestos containing material removal.
• Full reinstatement of the ceiling/wall to a paint finish.

We will always seek to have any textured coatings tested for Asbestos during the quoting process.

Weekend Job in Torrance while the homeowners are away.

During plans to have a new loft ladder installed and alterations in the bedroom. Artex ceilings were found to contain Asbestos, in which the client required to be removed.

Textured coated ceilings were removed by ML1 Services Ltd, who done a great job.

New Loft ladder installed by Jake Robb Joinery, making it look easy.

We will be carrying out the re-instatement of the ceilings with plasterboard and to include 1000 gauge polythene with air tightness tape around the perimeters and junctions. New ceilings will receive plaster finish and 100mm Coving, ready for a paint finish by DM Decor the following weekend.

We were called in on short notice to carry out a repair to a bathroom ceiling in Rhu. The ceiling had suffered from water damage from above, which had over time made the original lath and plaster ceiling fail. We removed any loose and fragile sand and lime plaster which had delaminated from the timber laths, installed plasterboard and plastered over.

Great house to work in with a smashing view over Rhu marina. 🙂

These living room walls in Gartocharn were particulary bad for hairline cracking to the original finish coat plaster. The walls substrate undercoat were solid and sound, therefore, in agreement with the client we applied a reinforcement mesh within the first coat of finish. The aim of the mesh is to limit any cracking to the new finish coat surface.
