Summer is the perfect time for you to make a start on those garden improvements. Our customer was after a change and wanted a retaining wall installed with access to the new level while staying in keeping with the new landscape. We excavated the area to prep for the installation of a foundation pad before installing the sleeper wall and some new drainage before backfilling the area.

This week we had our team down in Gretna carrying out another decommissioned tower removal including breaking out of a concrete foundation pad and regrading the ground.

Douglas the Christmas Tree looks wonderful and festive all dressed up in the Helensburgh sunset. At WCC Group we're so glad to have been able to donate our time and expertise to putting Douglas in his rightful home for the Christmas season, along with Speedy Services Luss Estates MT Builders and Sharp's.

We were privileged to be asked to help bring some Christmas cheer to Helensburgh a little early by donating our chainsaw services to Douglas the Christmas Tree. It was a great day to be working alongside the other local businesses who donated their time, labour and resources including Speedy Services Luss Estates M & T Builders Merchants and Robert Sharp & Sons.

We can't wait to see what Douglas looks like when he has his sparkly winter coat on!

Last week WCC Group helped Christmas come early to Helensburgh, as our lads Gerald and Alistair trimmed down Douglas the Christmas Tree to size for his new home in Colquhoun Square.

We're looking forward to seeing Douglas decked out in all of his sparkly festive finery a little closer to Christmas.

Thanks to Argyll and Bute Council for inviting us to take part.

Another weekend of heavy rainfall has caused a landslide at Rest and Be Thankful in Argyll for the second time in six weeks, highlighting the effect that changes in the Scottish climate are having and will continue to have on infrastructure.

One thing's for sure, we can expect much more wet weather in the coming months, and while we may be attuned to flooding and drainage issues caused by wet weather, landslides remain a very real issue in the Scottish countryside and can not only cause property damage and road closures, but can also be dangerous.

Utilising landslide mitigation such as gabions, rockfall barriers and trenches can all reduce the impact, although at WCC Group we would recommend taking a long term approach to landscape drainage wherever possible.

Motorists face a 59-mile (95km) diversion after the A83 is closed for the second time in six weeks.
