It was one of those days I got a nice surprise while out on recce marking out the route of an ancient path (that could be more than 2000 years old.) We came across the bridge I forgot I had designed earlier this year, which runs across the old mill dam, which is now under construction. It had to be cost effective but resilient, using the piers of the old structure. Although not finished yet, it clearly works! Its part of a project being commissioned by John Urquhart and FOLLAT (friends of loch Lomond and the Trossachs) and it's rewarding to be a small part of such a vital community endeavour.

Brilliant feature on the BBC today on coral reefs in Indonesia. My Dad pioneered coral reef rebuilding in Lombok more than 30 years ago and was passionate about preserving the reefs on the West coast of the island. Much of the damage was being done by local fishermen using dynamite and he had to educate them, explaining the damage it was doing!! It was then a matter of encouraging regrowth. So glad it is getting traction Then and now: Bringing coral reefs back to life
