T***S DIARY! Hello everyone. Yesterday evening I went out at 9pm and didn't come in until Zuma went out at 12.15am. I then slept on the parent's bed until 4.15am when I woke Sheila with my gentle churruping. Sheila thought that I wanted to go outside, so opened the front door, but I decided to play hide and seek and then had a huge attack of The Zoomies, running around the house. Sheila was not happy about this and went back to bed. This morning, Sheila got up early to check the moth trap and was very disappointed with the catch. She then checked the wall of the house where moths often settle if they are attracted to the light, incase she had missed anything. She got the ladder out and potted a moth, high up on the wall, which looked different to others she had seen. It was a Toadflax Brocade which hasn't been recorded in Cornwall before! Today, being Friday, I settled on the parent's bed after breakfast for my usual snooze. I was quite tired after my early morning Zoomies. Sheila then had the audacity to get the vacuum cleaner out! She knows that Thursday is housework day but yesterday the house was quiet. I think Sheila did it on purpose to get her own back after last night's interrupted sleep...

T***S DIARY! Hello everyone. Last night I was outside until 4am when Zuma woke Sheila up by clawing the mat by the front door. This is his signal to be let outside and whenever it is heard, either Sheila or Nick leap out of bed to let Zuma out. Zuma has the parents wrapped around his paw! Who needs a cat flap? Zuma and I operated the 'one in one out policy' and after touching noses with Zuma, I came in and went upstairs to sleep on the parent's bed. This morning Sheila was listening to the radio and having a lie-in when the Prime minister gave a speech to say that from next Spring, under 16's will not be allowed on Social Media. This is a bit of a blow for me because I am probably eight or nine and Zuma is only twelve so we are far too young to be broadcasting on here... Sheila said that I'm not to worry - next Spring she will take over the diary on my behalf. Today the weather has been mediocre and I have been asleep. Firstly on the parent's bed and then on the sofa. Nick and Sheila have had a lovely walk from Lizard green towards Kynance and back via the coast path to Lizard Point. It was very busy with holiday makers...

T***S DIARY! Hello everyone. Today, Sheila has been busy. She lit the moth trap last evening in the garden and had a few nice moths in it this morning. After Sheila had emptied the trap, she came back to bed for coffee and reading the papers, which is the usual Sunday routine. Zuma and I had been out all night, so after my breakfast, I slept on the parent's bed and Zuma chose his new spot in a cardboard box in the front bedroom. Sheila then got up and watered the back garden, before helping Kim from Bojorrow Plants. Kim was selling plants at a local NGS open garden event run by some friends of Sheila. Sheila and Kim loaded up their cars with plants and had a very enjoyable afternoon, meeting lots of customers who used to come to The Old Withy Garden Nursery. Sheila said that lots of people asked after me, which made me very smug (see photo) Yesterday, Nick and Sheila had a lovely walk from Bray's Cott to Kennack Sands and back...

T***S DIARY! Hello everyone. Last week I was off my food, which is unusual for me. I had several mealtimes when I turned my nose up at the food on my plate. After throwing out several lots, Sheila decided to put the bowl outside to see if the resident hedgehogs would eat what I left. I immediately went outside and ate the lot!! The weather has been very mixed, with a cold wind and the back garden has been battered, just as the roses have started flowering. On Thursday, Sheila did her housework and put in a lot of extra effort. The vacuum was deployed and the hideous noise went on for ages, ruining my snooze on the sofa. I found a new hiding place until the coast was clear. Yesterday, Aunty Penny came over to see Sheila with Cathryn and Alane - a cousin and cousin-in-law. Sheila went to buy Gear Farm Pasties and after the four of them had walked around Frenchman's Creek, they ate them for lunch. I couldn't resist the smell and started to beg. Sheila was very cross with me and put me outside until the pasties were finished! Today, the weather looks much better. Zuma is asleep on the parent's bed and I am about to go outside to do cat things...

T***S DIARY! Hello everyone. On Saturday evening, I decided to climb up onto the garden shed roof and down on to the trellis. I then meowed pitifully as if I was stuck. Sheila came out and lifted me down and told me that if I go up there again, I will need to find my own way down. Later I thought I would see if Sheila meant what she said. She did, but I got down easily on my own. The shed roof seems like a nice spot for a snooze when the weather gets better. Last night, the fire was lit again because Sheila was cold after her birding trip to Bodmin Moor. She saw lots of birds, including a Dipper which was a tick for her year list...

T***S DIARY! Hello everyone. The weather today is horrid!!! This morning us cats were let in at 5.30am. Sheila seemed to think that this was more than acceptable, but I had been yelling since 3.30am. Zuma and I both went up to the parent's bed where Sheila gave us cuddles. All three of us then slept until gone 8am!
This morning, Sheila and Nick went out for breakfast but came straight home without a walk because of the weather.
A few days ago, Sheila went shopping for some paint and brushes. Zuma told me that this means Sheila is going to do something called DIY and that it's best to keep out of the way while this is happening.
When we came down for our lunch everything was back to normal, but there is a strange smell in the house and the wall behind the woodburner has gone dark. I'm now asleep on the back of the sofa and Zuma has just gone back up to bed...

T***S DIARY! Hello everyone. Now that the weather has cooled a bit, Zuma is feeling better and eating a bit more. I try to eat his food whenever I can so that it isn't wasted but Sheila has told me that this is not what she means by 'waste not, want not'! Us cats have been spending time in the shady parts of the garden and our usual spots at the front of the house. I sleep on the doormat by the front door, which used to be Zuma's spot until I took it over. From here, I can watch the neighbours, other cats and any dogs that may be out for a walk. I don't like dogs much and the other day there was a dog tied to a pram because dogs are not allowed on the Parish Field. Both Zuma and I were tempted to have a go but Nick and Sheila returned from their walk on Goonhilly just in time to stop mayhem!
Today, us cats had our usual Sunday lie in on the parent's bed, while Nick read the paper. This morning, Nick and Sheila have been for a walk around Mullion. Yesterday they walked on Goonhilly and saw lots of Heath-spotted Orchids. Sheila is going to set the moth trap again this evening to see what's about before the weather changes...

T***S DIARY! Hello everyone. Gosh it's has been hot for the last few days! A week ago we had the fire lit and now us cats are spending as much time as possible in the shade of the garden or the cool of the house. Yesterday, I slept on the parent's bed for much of the day and Zuma was outside. Today we swopped places and I have been outside all day. Yesterday evening, Auntie Penny came to stay and she and Sheila went out for supper to a friend. Sheila also set the moth trap at the friends house and went to empty it at 6.30am this morning. There were a few nice moths but the highlight of this week's mothing has been Sheila's first Striped Hawk-moth, which she caught in the garden. She was very excited and it seems to have been a good night for them as a few others in the moth Whatsapp group also caught them. They are migrant moths from Africa and the Continent and very strong flyers. It zipped off once it had warmed it's wings up after a short spell in the fridge so that Sheila could look at it properly!
Zuma does not do well in the hot weather and this morning, he came in late for his breakfast and was sick on the kitchen floor. Sheila keeps a close eye on him when it's very hot.
This afternoon, Sheila went to help Nick with some weeding at a customer's garden nearby. This evening both us cats have been conspicuous by our absence, only coming inside to eat.

T***S DIARY! Hello everyone. Today the weather(person) said that it would be hot and sunny! Sheila went shopping this morning and when she got home, Zuma and I both greeted her. Sheila opened the back door and the patio doors, in anticipation of the sunny weather but we have had stubborn cloud for most of the day. I had a lovely time going in and out of the open doors before deciding to settle on the sofa for a snooze. Zuma has been out on patrol and in the middle of the day, Sheila heard a dreadful catawailing noise. She looked out of the front window to see Zuma posturing with the white cat that lives locally. Zuma was winning and the white cat slunk off really slowly - a bit like cat tai-chi! Zuma then came home and settled on his 'winter chair' by the woodburner.
Last night, Sheila set the moth trap in the garden and caught a few different ones including the first Burnished Brass of the year - not rare but one of her favourites...
