Conventional wisdom says that you should throw away your parsnip plants removed through thinning because they won't grow properly if replanted. Well, last July, instead of adding them to the compost heap, a regular client and I decided to transplant them instead, with great care not to damage their long tap roots. As a result, today, we harvested these lovely small parsnips, and about 30 more just like these. OK, they aren't as big as the ones left undisturbed, but there is nothing wrong with them and perfect for roasting whole. Just goes to show, convetional wisdom, and what you read online, isn't always right, provided you just take that extra time and care.
