This Sunday 22nd April is the London Marathon and we have some amazing runners who are putting themselves through their paces to run 26.2 miles through the streets of London to raise money for Jami.
One of our runners is Jonny. Here’s his story:
“My wife Sam and I have two amazing children, a 9-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter.
From her early years, it became clear that our daughter was different to other children. What then resulted is why I am running the Marathon and raising money for the amazing charity Jami.
The story is far too long to post here, but these are some of the key facts about our daughter:
• 7 months living in a specialist mental health hospital!
• Over 1 year out of all schooling!
• Over 70 different medical consultations!
• Over 25 different medications!
• Over 75 su***de attempts!
All that before she was 10 years old! If it shocks you, good, I have lived it, and I know what’s needed to be done. But until things change charities like JAMI will be one of the only places people with Mental Health conditions get the real support they need.
So that’s why I am putting myself through the ultimate challenge of running the London Marathon to raise all important funds that they need.”
We wish Jonny the best of luck for Sunday!
