A stylish and striking tropical plant with deep green elegant leaves and dramatic white stripes. Dracaena Jade Jewel is an adaptable and easy-care plant that looks great as a tabletop or floor plant. What's not to love!
🌤 Does well in most lighting situations, though it’s happiest with a medium-bright position out of direct sun to bring out the variegation. Some morning sun is ok. If you need to fill a low-light space in your home, though, it’ll survive!
💧You can let it dry out a bit between waterings, up to 75% but don’t let it dry out all the way.
😅Doesn’t really care too much about humidity — it prefers higher, as do most leafy plants, but they’re perfectly content in average household conditions.

If your flowering plant isn't flowering, the most likely cause is not enough light!
Try moving it closer to a window. Good light is the key to reflowering, especially in the winter. Try moving plants like Orchids and Peace Lilies to a brighter location on a north or east windowsill for spring and summer, then the brightest location you have for winter, even south, as winter sun isn't strong enough to harm your plant.

The fear of over-watering can lead some to make the mistake of not giving their plants enough to drink. The amount of water you give your plants does NOT increase the risk of root rot.
When you do water, water well until it runs through the drainage holes. Over-watering is not how MUCH water you give your plants, but how OFTEN you water them. If you don't allow the soil to dry out a bit in between waterings, then the roots can't get the oxygen they need to breathe.

Self-watering spikes. new designs in now! Super-cute terracotta animals and colourful blown glass globes.
Useful as well as beautiful, these handy spikes are great if you're going on holiday, have plants that need consistent moisture, like Ferns and Calatheas or during hot weather.
The terracotta spikes natural porosity creates a self-regulating system that responds to soil conditions. When soil is dry, the clay releases moisture. When soil is damp, water stays in the stake. Soak for 1 to 2 hours before first use. Make a hole in the soil and insert so the animal sits on the soil surface.

With the glass globes, first water your plant thoroughly, then create a pilot hole in the damp soil with a pencil to prevent clogging. Fill the globe with water, cover the opening with your finger, and insert it quickly into the soil, ideally near the roots, to keep the soil consistently moist.

They last about a week in warm weather.

Some warmer weather☀️Yay!
Top tip: Water only when your plant needs it, not according to the day of the week. Many factors can affect how quickly your plant will use up water, like warmer weather. Always check the soil before watering. 😊

Happy Easter weekend🐣 Open Good Friday and Saturday
Nothing says spring to me more than glorious yellow blooms. This stunning Cymbidium orchid 'Anna' (Boat Orchid) is putting on a wonderful display in the shop window currently.
These popular, long-lasting, and cool-growing orchids are known for their dramatic, multi-bloom spikes. Lasting up to 3 months in the right conditions.
🌤 They thrive in bright, indirect light but enjoy some morning sun.
💧Allow the top 2cms to dry. In summer, water about 7-10 days. Winter, 2-3 weeks. Keep barely moist. The roots don’t want to be sitting in wet or completely dried out. Ideally use room temperature rainwater. or tepid soft water.
🌸 For flowering, they need a significant temperature drop at night in autumn to around. Cut flower stems to the base after flowering.

If you love a quirky plant then look no further than Alocasia 'Red Secret'. What's the 'secret' I hear you cry! It's the dramatic colour-shifting leaves, which unfurl with a metallic sheen, and shimmer between a deep burgundy-red, copper, and dark green depending on the light. While the underside is a rich, deep purple.
It's a great statement plant and is compact and slow-growing, so stays small enough for a desk or shelf.
🌤 Alocasia's thrive in a bright spot out of direct sun, so set back from a south or west window, or on a north windowsill or on or near an east window as they can handle some direct morning rays as long as it's not too intense.
💧 Allow the top third of soil to dry out between watering’s. Top half autumn/winter. Soil should be moist, not soggy.
😅Likes a warm, humid room, ideal in a bathroom or kitchen. Would benefit from moistened pebbles under the pot.
