Creating your own front door with colour leaded lights, brings a very personal feel to each front door. Colours, shapes, images can all be used to provide an intriguing and personal feature to the entrance to your home.

If you're lucky enough to get the sun shining through, the colours can be amazing!

On this Iroko front door and frame, the leaded lights were provided by Sophie from Lil Leadlite Co, who works with our clients to design their bespoke pieces.

The door was finished in Farrow and Ball Treron No 292, and the locks and door furniture were in dark bronze from Banham locks.

Walled gardens create an eye catching feature, and here we wanted to capture the 'curiosity' of the garden in the design of the gate.

This lattice topped Iroko gate was designed to mirror the trellis that had been incorporated into the garden plans.

All gates and doors created by Waterhall Joinery, are designed with consideration of their surroundings and features of the buildings around them.

The result being that with the right materials and character, the bespoke item can add additional beauty, intrigue or character to the home.

Our client wanted to retain the style of their door which was original to the property, but have something more substantial and also double glazed.

We made a replica door but increased the thickness to incorporate double glazed units.

To keep authenticity we carefully removed the original leaded glass panel from the old door to use in the new door, placed in front of the double glazing.

To blend in with the colour of the original glass, the door was painted in Farrow and Ball Vardo eggshell, which proved to be an excellent match.

The door furniture was selected from Croft Architectural ironmongery.

The end result was a new, stronger front door, retaining the lovely original features, but with added benefit of double glazing.

Not 1 but 3 beautiful solid Oak gates designed and installed for this property, along with a section of sturdy fencing to compliment the main gate.

The impact of transforming the grounds by installing 3 robust solid wooden gates was a very pleasing finish to this project.

One of the gates was designed to fit within an existing wall giving an intriguing entry to the garden behind, whilst the other two were designed with sweeping curved tops as matching features.

The gates were all made with prime European Oak and finished with OSMO oil natural wood stain. All gates had locking long throw latches and Kirkpatrick gate handles.

Our client wanted a copy of their original front door, that was now looking tired and weathered.

We've recreated the door in Accoya wood and painted in Farrow and Ball Skylight No 205 - made fresh out of our Zennor workshop.

Iroko garden gates with long throw locks and ring latches.

The gates were left untreated so that they would weather. The Iroko will go an attractive silvery grey.

As Iroko is such an oily hardwood, it is naturally resisitent to rot. It's actually best to allow it to weather outside for a period of time before treating with a preservative. Once weathered the the preservative can pe*****te the surface.

This door was made by our newest team member Ellis. He only joined a year ago with a basic level college training in woodwork.

It's a fantastic achievement to progress this quickly and I think it's a great endorsement for apprenticeships. College can give you basic skills, but you learn in the workplace.

After having an english walnut tree felled in their garden due to honey fungus making it unstable, our clients wanted to use the timber to make items for their house, to remember the tree by.

We were tasked with making these 2 stools to match another stool they owned.

A fantastic piece of wood to work with, we were very happy to create these items for them. The colours and markings from this tree are amazing. As a joiner this is pure joy to see the wood come back to life in a different form.

At first sight this window looked fairly good. But the uneven areas in the bottom rail suggested the use of filler in the past.

Once the paint had been cleaned away the extent of the rot was apparent . The large lump of filler masked the rot that was still occuring in the bottom rail.

We then set about repairing it with timber plants and new glazing bar sections. The window would now last for many years to come!

Whilst fitting some windows at a client's house, he asked if we could make something for him to cover an unsightly fusebox in his old cottage, which had been an eyesore for a while.

The vicinity of the fuse box to the ceiling beams meant that the doors couldn't be hinged as they would not open due to the beam, so we decided sliding doors were the solution.

We made the box in solid American Yellow pine and stained with Teak OSMO Oil woodstain to match colour of windows and doors.

One happy client!
