It's now only a week away before the feedback session with the RHS. I submitted a design for Sandringham Flower Show 2026 in the Long Borders category, a small but perfectly formed wildlife sensory garden.

Friends, a garden is more than soil and flowers - it is a living sanctuary, a refuge for countless species that quietly sustain our world. Every bee that hums, every worm that tills the earth, every bird that pauses to rest on a branch - they are partners in this delicate web of life.
But this web is fraying. Pesticides, concrete and monocultures steal the richness from our landscapes. What if we decided to lead the change right here, in our own gardens?
Pioneering in biodiversity doesn't require Parliament or boardrooms to make decisions, but us - with courage, imagination and care.
It means planting for pollinators, leaving wild areas untamed, building homes for hedgehogs and insects and choosing native plants that have been part of this ancient narrative. It means protecting the unseen, the small, the overlooked and unimpressive too.
When we lead in our gardens we drop a stone that ripples outward. A single wildflower meadow can move a neighbourhood to action. A birdbath can quench the thirst of a migrating flock. A child who sees ladybirds emerge from pupa will grow into an adult who protects them.
This is our chance to step forward - not as gardeners alone, but as guardians of life.
