Well… renovation life has definitely been testing us lately 😅
What started as “a few updates” quickly became uncovering rotten floor joists, hidden damp, mould, failing ceilings, and years of water damage hiding beneath the surface. Progress hasn’t been as fast as we hoped because every time we open something up, we seem to find another surprise waiting for us 😭
BUT… despite the setbacks, we are finally starting to see the house come back together properly.
✔️ Rotten joists removed and replaced
✔️ Structural work underway
✔️ Roof insulated
✔️ New framing going in upstairs
✔️ Garden completely cleared and transformed
✔️ New fencing installed
✔️ Spaces finally starting to take shape
The floor joists are now about halfway done already (more progress has been made since some of these photos were taken 🙌). Once they’re finished, we can finally move onto first fix electrics, get everything boarded out, and start plastering which feels like a huge milestone after months of demolition, surprises, and structural repairs.
The difference between the “before” and now is honestly wild. The garden used to be completely overgrown and unusable, and now we can actually see the space and start planning what it will become.
Inside still looks chaotic, but we’ve gone from uncovering problems to actually rebuilding the house properly. It’s messy, expensive, exhausting… but also exciting seeing the character of the old stone walls and original structure being brought back to life.
Safe to say this project has been a much bigger job than we ever expected 😂 but we’re getting there one step at a time.
Thanks to everyone following along and cheering us on. Hopefully the next update includes fewer rotten surprise 🙏
