Incredible news ! 🎉
Today, the Central Valley received a landmark allocation of over $43 million in state funding for floodplain restoration. River Partners thanks the Wildlife Conservation Board and the Newsom Administration for their visionary investment in proven floodplain solutions.
This investment is exactly what’s needed to thrive in the face of climate-driven floods and changing conditions for California’s environment and communities. Alongside trusted, diverse allies, River Partners will transform over 4,600 acres to increase flood safety, recharge depleted water supplies, create habitat for salmon and other struggling wildlife, provide outdoor access for park-starved communities, and more.
“We all want a thriving future for the Valley,” says River Partners President Julie Rentner. “The benefits of restoring the region’s floodplains are something everyone agrees on, and that alignment means we can make really big change fast. The impacts of these investments will be felt by dozens of communities as we expand and revive river corridors across the San Joaquin and Sacramento valleys.”
As we move forward, River Partners remains committed to doing what we do best. We don’t just plant trees, we transform entire landscapes and demonstrate the power restored riverways have in shaping a vibrant future for California. Together, we can give new life to our riverways at an unprecedented pace and scale for the state’s environment and people.
Time to get to work!
