Now’s the time to cut back your Buddleja (Butterfly Bush)!

If yours is looking a bit overgrown or woody after winter, don’t worry—this is exactly when to sort it.

Here’s the key thing… don’t be afraid to be bold.

✔️ Cut it back to around 1–2ft from the ground
✔️ Remove any dead or weak stems
✔️ Shape it to keep it neat and open

It might look harsh at first—but this is what gives you stronger growth and loads of flowers later in the year.

A good prune now = a much better-looking plant all summer.

👉 Top tip: A freshly pruned Buddleja looks even better with a clean, defined edge around it—turns it from overgrown to a proper feature.

Simple steps to wake up your lawn for spring.
1. Light Spring Tidy
Gently rake away leaves and debris to let air reach the soil - minding any new shoots.
2. First Mow (If It’s Dry)
Only mow if the ground is firm and frost‑free. Keep the cut high - it only needs ‘tipping’.
3. Gentle Spring Feed
Use a slow‑release fertiliser (low in nitrogen) to generate growth.
4. Improve Drainage
Spike compacted areas to help water move through the soil (when weather is frost free).
5. Hold Off on W**d Killers
Most w**d treatments work best from late April onwards.
