A great couple of days sub contracting to at Woods Mill Nature Reserve carrying out veteranisation work. Creating habitat features by seeking sub dominant or poor standard trees within the woodland. The aim is to simulate natural damage to encourage birds and bats to use the features. Also creating highways between trees to encourage Dormice to move across the woodland.

Well it started off as a sunny day and ended with us sliding around this Beech in the rain. We have previously reduced this tree so it was nice to revisit it again. We reduced the crown by 2-2.5 meters. Pruning slightly more away from the road and service line. Thank you to Tim at .services and Nick from for coming in to offer their skills on this one!

The sun came out whilst we removed two very sick and declining Maple trees for Pulborough Parish Council on the Recreation ground. We are working with Pulborough Parish Council on a replanting scheme to reduce the environmental impact of loosing a number of trees on the Recreation ground due to Honey fungus, ground compaction and harsh weather over the past years.

It's been a wet and gloomy few days in Pulborough removing this Cedar. A history of limb failures, close proximity to the property and heartwood rot were enough to warrant it's removal. A great effort from all involved helping things go as well as they could have gone.

Installing a dynamic Cobra brace on this tall, leggy twin stemmed Silver birch tree in West Chiltington. This system is designed to reduce excessive movement of the stems in windy conditions which may lead to stress on the included union which is close to ground level.

We have previously reduced the sail weight of this tree so bracing was the next step to reduce the chance of failure in the future.

A Horse Chestnut reduction we carried out in Storrington. Originally it was planned to reduce the lateral limbs away from the houses. On inspection we found a lot of rotting and decay on previous pruning points.

It was decided that a larger scale reduction was required. We removed 3-4m from the crown to remove the decaying stems and to reduce the chance of limb failure near the houses and the road beneath.

A fun job with a good team and a great outcome. Considering the material removed from the tree to have so much growth left for regeneration is really promising that this tree will stand for many more years.
