Thank you for featuring our Passive House project in your article on Paragraph 79 homes in England. ✨
Seen from an American perspective, it shines a spotlight on a modern yet hidden architecture nestled in the English countryside.
“If you imagine an English country house, you probably picture something like Highclere Castle, where the costume drama “Downton Abbey” was filmed, or Drayton House, location of the 2023 movie “Saltburn.”
The Shards is definitely more of a house, as nicknamed by the construction team, and maybe one day it will!

Thrilled to share that our Shards project designs received 3 awards at the last week!
Designing Paragraph 79 houses is both challenging and exciting, allowing our creativity and imagination to flow, inspired solely by the environment we’re integrating into.
The judging team said: “New Dwelling at Shards has sustainability at its core, which is considered a fundamental part of the design and not an afterthought. Despite its very challenging technical detailing, all aspects of sustainability have been considered and the result is a really impressive piece of architecture.”
Proud of the whole team, especially Jake , and the hard work that went into bringing this vision to life. 🏆✨

This unique project, despite facing strict planning requirements, allowed us to unleash our imagination and creativity.

I am thrilled to see this special house completed. Designed with approval granted back in 2016 during my happy years working with Morgan Carn Architects. This ‘Paragraph 79’ Passive House required an immense level of detail and commitment from everyone involved. Well done to Jake at MCA for delivering this so ingeniously, and kudos to the client for staying true to the vision.
Nestled within the High Weald AONB, the house is situated on the former sandstone quarry. Over time, the quarry was backfilled with hardcore and glass, allowing nature to gradually reclaim the area. These irregularly shaped planes, embraced by nature, served as the key inspiration for the concept design of the house developed as an integral part of an abstract landscape.

Fourteen years ago today I celebrated the launch of my design studio.
It has been an incredible journey working on many great projects for wonderful clients.
Along the way, I was lucky to meet some special people who helped me grow and turn our visions into reality.

Being an architect with a passion for interiors, I have been fortunate to create spaces from the very first sketch line to the last detail.
I am forever open to learning and challenging boundaries, which only exist if we let them.
I look forward to many more! Asia x

Bespoke hand-chipped limestone and bronze finishes at the new offices.
Locally made, we applied traditional craftsmanship to the natural materials to create a tactile, earthy palette and texture through out the space..
