Banney Royd Hall Banney Royd Hall is a Grade 1 listed building in Huddersfield, and was built in 1902 by Edgar Wood ceilings and wooden floors were covered and protected.

Banney Royd built by the Architect Edgar Wood, is recognised as being one of the most important private houses of its decade. It was admired abroad and was described in detail by Herman Muthesius' book 'Das Englische Haus' 1904, which recorded the foremost ideas in domestic architecture in Great Britain. est, being one of only a limited number in West Yorkshire considered to be of National Importance. Built in a 7 acre plot in Edgerton, Huddersfield for a prosperous accountant named William Henry Armitage in 1902.
1n 1918 Sir Emmanuel Hoyle bought the house for £12,500 after he died in 1939 Lady Hoyle moved into Briar Close a house on Daisy Lea Lane, leaving Bnney Royd empty. In 1942 Banney Royd was requisitioned by Civil Defence, all the walls. Approx 150 people were stationed at Banney Royd during the war years. Four barrack huts were erected on the tennis lawns, and mess hut, lecture hut and recreation room and bar by the front door and front drive. There were also 2 large outbuildings were built one for garaging lorries and the other at the top of the field for workshop and store gor all the heavy rescue equipment.
