Im a full-time digital mixed media concept artist.

What does that mean: I blend photographs with textures and emotions in photoshop to make prints and wall art for your home.

How successful am I: My work has been in display in numerous gallerys over the last 12 months. Check out the photos of my work in a Paris gallery.

What goes thro my head daily and what do I do as a self employed creator:

Sometimes what I make sucks.
Sometimes I just delete it.
Sometimes my art is truly awesome and I cant stop looking at it wondering where it came from.

Sometimes the other elements of being self employed mean I cant make art as I focus too much on making money.
I cant make money, I would be arrested.

Things I do daily when I can, I hatch dragons, I create magazines, I take photos to inspire my next piece of art.

Yesterday I spent all day preparing a set of resin prints, varnishing a set of dice holders, 3d printing 3 dragons, creating some social media adverts recording some poor quality social media videos.

Today Im testing some streaming software to see if I can use it to add additional benefits to the Mycreativeimages and Creative Talents Magazine at sometime today I will walk into town and deliver some more dragons to the super supportive The Purple Spell who sell my art prints and 3d dragons for me. Whilst there we will talk about our new joint venture the Alternative Magazine. Then Im on granddad duties........when Ive recovered from the trauma of grandchildren (love them really) I will be sending out more social media posts about the next Huntingdon Alternative Fayre ( check out my event posts) and contiuing to work on two guides im writting; "How to use the manual mode on your camera" and "Learn from my mistakes: a guide for emerging artists"
Tomorrow, well thats another story......

"Sometimes things happen for a reason.
Sometimes you will never know the reason."

During a lovely weekend away with the wife, staying at The Dolphin Hotel (a super friendly place to stay BTW) I was drawn to the graveyard near Whitby Abbey where I took a few snaps with the camera of the gravestones, sounds boring but they are an amazing historic record of life in Whitby and they have been weathered in such a way as to provide some serious textures and art inspiration. Whilst wandering amongst the grave stone I also took a shot of the Abbey as I had an idea niggling in my mind.

We then wandered round to the Whitby Brewery as I wanted to try their stout, Black Death. I wasn't disappointed it was absolutely yummy. Sat with the wife outside in the chill wind enjoying and an amazing drink, inspired by the gravestones, the Abbey and the care and attention that went into crafting this dark nectar a the idea that was niggling in my mind became clearer. Now Im home Ive pulled from my imagination and brought it to life digitally.

Made up of 68 individual layers of photos and textures with digital brushwork, this digital mixed media concept artwork is a reflection of my experience visiting Whitby and soaking up its history and stories.

Please let me know what you think.

My name is Jame Hurley, my mask is my art and reveals my passions, emotions and frustrations in a visual way as my words always go unheard in the whirlwind of life.

What do you hide behind your mask?

The artwork title "Seeing Who They Are Behind the Mask for the First Time" is not just a reflection of recent experiences but also a sharp commentary on the broader systems of power and is aimed at those who control narratives and thrive on manipulation.

This Digital Mixed Media Concept Art was created by blending, photography, textures, and digital brushstrokes, with the aim of exposing the greedy, self-serving nature of not just individuals, but the larger entities that shape our world—governments and corporations, all too often driven by profit over authenticity. The central figure, with tendrils spiraling outward and a chaotic explosion of colors where a face should be, embodies these insidious forces.

The facelessness of the figure symbolizes the impersonal and faceless power structures at play. Those who profit from exploitation—whether through politics or business—hide behind masks of civility, yet their true nature, like the figure in the work, is twisted and corrupted. The dark, inky tendrils that extend from the figure's body represent the way these forces creep into every corner of society, entangling culture, and everyday life, suffocating freedom of speech and movement, and commodifying human experiences for greed.

The swirling storm of textures and the explosion of fiery hues where the face would be suggest the visceral nature of this realization—when one sees the greed-driven machine for what it truly is.

This artwork is a vivid commentary on the commercialization of life itself, where businesses and governments often mask their exploitation with polished surfaces, only for their greed to eventually erupt, leaving the public disillusioned and powerless to do anything but bend the knee and worship the mask.

There isn't a day goes by when someone doesn't try rip, punch talk steal away your happiness and dreams. Why? Because they aren't happy you cant be.

Don't let anyone tell you what you are doing is daft, wont work or will make you look stupid.

This, is my digital mixed media concept art.

Its chaos. Its visceral. It tells a story. Its messy. its compelling. it totally fine to love it or hate it.

When you finally understand that the rules are there to keep you buried and stop you succeeding.

When you know that people see you and relate to what you do and what you say but are too focused on sticking with what others tell them to do.

When you know you aren't just another pebble on the beach waiting to be picked up and taken home or thrown into the sea.

When you know.......

Stepping back into who I truly am and not dwelling on the negatives and self serving people around me that are distracting me from what I should be doing:

Discover the Power of Art: My Exhibitions Around the World - Sept 2024

This month, I’m thrilled to announce a series of exhibitions that showcase my art work on digital screens across some of the most stunning galleries in Europe and the Middle East.

Each piece reflects a journey of personal exploration, creativity, and deep emotional connection, designed to resonate with every viewer. This is me.

Gaia – I Am My World
Location: Thomson Gallery, Zug, Switzerland
In "Gaia – I Am My World," I dive deep into the concept of self-empowerment and connection to the natural world. Through this piece I explore how we as individuals hold the power to shape our own existence, much like Gaia, the ancient Greek personification of Earth. This is based on a photograph taken in the Peterborough Cathedral

Exhibition Date: Ongoing throughout the month
What to Expect: Thought-provoking artworks that combine surrealism, texture, and abstract elements to convey personal strength and interconnectedness.

Breaking Free
Location: CASA DEL ARTE Palma, Palma, Spain
“Breaking Free” is a celebration of liberation—from societal expectations, personal limitations, and emotional barriers. This piece emphasizes the beauty of release and self-expression with a narrative of breaking away from the constraints that bind us. The backdrop image was a photograph of a hedge taken in Kew Gardens

Exhibition Date: Ongoing throughout the month
What to Expect: Dynamic compositions using mixed media, where the flow of colors and textures symbolizes the act of freedom and self-discovery.

Darkness on the Fells
Location: Andakulova Gallery, Dubai, UAE
In “Darkness on the Fells,” I’ve delved into themes of solitude, resilience, and the stark beauty of natural landscapes. This piece captures the rugged, untamed aspects of nature, juxtaposed with the inner emotional landscapes we navigate during times of struggle. The backdrop of this was a photographs taken whilst staying at The Patterdale Estate

Exhibition Date: Ongoing throughout the month
What to Expect: Large-scale works that feature dark, moody tones with dramatic light contrasts, inspired by the desolate beauty of fells and mountain ranges.

Why You Should Experience These Exhibitions
Art is a universal language that has the power to evoke emotions, spark conversations, and inspire change. Whether you're in Switzerland, Spain, Dubai or online, I invite you to join me on this artistic journey.

Each piece of my art carries a story—a reflection of the raw emotions we all experience. My goal is to connect, inspire, and ignite self-discovery in every person who views my art.

This month my thought provoking bright bold artwork titled "Unreasonable Expectations" is proudly displayed on the LED screen inside the amazing Andie Art Gallery in

This piece is very personal to me as it expresses long held negative thoughts and emotions about others people expectations of you....

This is one of the pieces I keep hung on the wall in my workspace to remind me that now Im self employed the only peoples expectations I need to worry about are mine (and the wifes!).

This has been on display in Miami, London, Athens, Berlin, Derbyshire and Times Square, I bet you cant say that about the other art hung on your wall.....
