Episode 1: The Glen Vine

This lawn has been completely taken over by w**ds, moss and severe compaction, leaving the grass struggling to survive. Prior to today’s work, we carried out a targeted herbicide treatment to begin removing the heavy w**d infestation — now the real transformation begins.

🌞 One Sunny Day Doesn’t Fix What 2025 Did to Our Lawns…

Today felt like Spring has finally arrived across Derbyshire and the East Midlands.

But beneath that sunshine, many lawns are still recovering from what was a brutal 2025:

➡️ Extended summer drought
➡️ Followed by prolonged periods of heavy rainfall, through to 2026.

That combination is exactly why moss is thriving right now.

Here’s what happened…

During the drought:
• Grass roots were stressed and weakened
• Lawns thinned out
• Soil baked hard, especially on clay ground

Then the rain came:
• Compacted soil couldn’t drain properly
• Oxygen was pushed out of the root zone
• Weak grass struggled to recover

And moss? It loves those conditions.
Damp surface. Poor drainage. Thin turf. Low competition.
