Great day for meetings and site visits on the Isle of Skye

A few pictures of an old hen house while on a recent site visit to the Isle of Harris. This building was situated far above the houses closer to sea to avoid vermin etc. One of our directors grandmothers was sent up here to feed the hens and collect eggs twice a day. Still standing after decades of dereliction and storms it truly shows the robust nature and intrinsic beauty of Hebridean vernacular architecture.

Designed by Catoe/Brown Architecture & Landscape Studio and built by MacQueen Building Contractors, the project, managed by CHT, is the first development for RDT. They are already getting stuck into their next housing project, bringing empty homes back into use for the community!

Fantastic event for fantastic project! Spread the word!

Do you live, or have an interest in living, in the Coigach area?

Please come along to the drop-in session at Coigach Community Hall in Achiltibuie next Wednesday the 13th March, from 3:30pm to 7:30pm, to see the initial plans for potential new housing on the former Hydroponicum site, newly named "Achagarry".

Members of Communities Housing Trust (CHT), Coigach Community Development Company, Achiltibuie, and architects Catoe Brown will all be there to discuss the project, so come along for a cup of tea and a chat!
